Reef Credits are sold to businesses, investors and governments to try achieve water quality targets or corporate sustainability outcomes. The revenue supports land owners with additional and diversified income stream over 10-25 years.

This month we are shining a spotlight on the GreenCollar reef credit scheme in Australia. The voluntary market addresses water quality issues at the Great Barrier Reef by paying land managers for improved water quality as a result of from sustainable agricultural practices.

The project has created an efficiency saving of £551k, around 25% of the total project spend. @AnglianWater will maintain a buffer of additional Green Bond projects over the Green Bond proceeds with additional collateralisation of circa 30 per cent.

Receiving over £1.6m in funding, the project is part of a green bond from @AnglianWater, making history in 2017 as the first public utility to launch a Sterling Green Bond. The £250m, eight-year bond will mature in August 2025, with a return to investors of 1.625%.

This month we are shining the spotlight on the Orchard Close Flood Alleviation project from @AnglianWater. Based in Norwich, the project is delivering climate resilience benefits to the area through its sustainable drainage system.
