I’m late on this but @sdutKevinAcee Monday on @JonAndJim confirmed what I’ve said for years: High-ranking NFL people did not expect or want Spanos to take the Inglewood option and thought/hoped they’d figure it out in San Diego. Shows they do like this market 🤷♂️

@hochalicious @sdutKevinAcee @JonAndJim They just held a Super Bowl in Santa Clara. Next year will be the second Super Bowl in Inglewood in 6 years. Downtown would be fun, but it’s not the only place for a stadium.

@Blue_Collar619 @SDWSChamp2026 Arenas can be built with private money/investors a lot easier than MLB & NFL stadiums. New Pads owner could see opportunity downtown. It’s been discussed before but nothing came of it.

I just don’t see them building an arena DT especially since they keep building skyscrapers all around petco now. I know the mts station is the location but that’s gonna fuck up transport.

@SDWSChamp2026 @Blue_Collar619 If an arena ever happens sure. I’m personally not a fan of the Midway location which is why I haven’t followed that saga closely at all. Maybe if Friedkin buys the Padres he’ll spearhead a downtown arena near Petco.

I have criticized Gloria plenty & he deserves it, but he’s been fighting the Midway lawsuit in court cause he wants the arena/housing there. Also Kroenke isn’t trying to bring any teams here.

@thestevenwoods Just want to note here: the San Diego Chargers were the 21st most valuable NFL franchise in 2016. The LA Chargers are the 24th most valuable franchise in 2025. The San Diego Padres were the 19th most valuable MLB franchise in 2016 and are now the 10th. Do with that what you will.
