Personally, the best part of Sunny Metha’s press conference was that he didn’t commit to any player on this current roster. All avenues must be studied and to me, status quo for 2026-27 isn’t a viable option. #NJDevils

I got trashed for years because I had, and still have, this exact take. What @wyshynski is saying couldn’t be closer to the truth.
It’ll ruffle a lot of soft feathers in the #NJDevils fanbase but this core isn’t it & aren’t built for playoff hockey.

@NJDevilsPL If he's not talking 8 year deal prior to the draft, I think you start looking to move him. With the new contract rules in place, I'd be very wary of a player dragging their feet on negotiations during the brief window you can get that 8th year

When a new GM comes in, top priority is conversations with Nico & opening up the extension talk. If both camps are extremely far apart then there wouldn’t be a choice but to trade him. #NJDevils

Nico Hischier on if Tom Fitzgerald being out as GM changes anything about his future. He’s eligible to sign extension on July 1. UFA in 2027. “I’m focusing on playing hockey here. I still have one more year. So I’m with the Devils right now and then we’ll see what happens.”😬
