Been doing a v interesting audit in GP; people with asthma prescribed only salbutamol. Speaking to patients on >14 salbutamol inhalers a year who describe their asthma as “well controlled” 🤦🏼♀️
@BritishGasHelp is there a problem with your app and website? I have been unable to access my account from either since yesterday and I have an unresolved issue I want to resolve.
@NJG_78@Drlsmac@DrBenLovell@NorthumbriaNHS Hi all, currently researching for a one day respiratory forum run by the Health Service Journal. Sharing best practice to approach challenges is key part of this - perhaps we could have a chat about the challenges and work outlined above? agnes.jacobs@wilmingtonhealthcare.com
Interesting chat with the respiratory nurses today - they tell all patients with an asthma exacerbation to make an appointment with their GP *2 days* post-discharge, as per NICE guidance.
Realistic?
@Drlsmac@DrBenLovell@NorthumbriaNHS It has been embedded into our practice for the last 18 months that anyone discharged from ED with an asthma exacerbation will have a full asthma review with our Respiratory Nurse Specialists either in ED before discharge or in Ambo Care within 48 working hours.
@Drlsmac@DrBenLovell@NorthumbriaNHS We are now trying to develop this further to try and ensure that all the parameters of the full asthma asthma assessment easily accessible to any primary or secondary care professional across IT platforms. Collaborative care, striving for a model of excellent asthma care.
