Live streaming Steam charts to 14 people on YouTube as we speak. Absolutely crushing it.

Marathon's player base has dropped by half. It's over. You might say this is early morning dip, but if you take a look at Slay the Spire 2, which debuted at the same time, they are at 426,422 concurrent right now while Marathon is at 41,087. This is an extremely bad situation for Bungie. Another datapoint is that Bungie not only failed to break into the 10 top played, but has fallen to rank 42 compared to Resident Evil Requiem at #9 with 131k players, and Slay the Spire II at #4 at this hour. Even as their numbers climb as people wake up to play, unless there is an incredible weekend rally that pushes them into the top 10, it's over. There is no better proof that AAA has the wrong model, chasing the wrong type of games, and spending too much to get there than this textbook simultaneous launch comparison between an Indie game and a AAA game. Western AAA industry is in full collapse, and it will take a radical shift to fix it.
