Today, The Hague Court of Appeal has sentenced a Dutch woman to prison for 4 crimes committed in Syria, including the enslavement of a Yazidi woman. This is part of the wider atrocities committed against the Yazidi community. This is not just a legal outcome. It reflects the lived reality of Yazidi women who were taken from their homes, separated from their families, and forced into systems of control, labour, and abuse simply because of who they are. For many survivors, justice has felt distant for years. Cases like this begin to close that distance, even if only slightly. It is a reminder that their stories matter, their suffering is recognized, and accountability, however delayed, is still possible. #yazidi #ezidi #yazidiwomen #yazidigenocide

This week, France took a historic step by addressing crimes committed against the Yazidi community: marking a powerful moment in the global fight for accountability❗️ For years, Yazidi survivors have waited for recognition and justice. Moments like this show that their stories are being heard, and that international courts are beginning to respond. Justice is slow, but it is moving in the right step Link to learn more: eziditimes.com/legal-8/ #yazidi #yazidigenocide #france

Today, a significant appeal judgment will be delivered in the Netherlands in the case against Hasna A., involving crimes committed against the Yazidi community. The Yazidis are a religious minority, primarily from northern Iraq, who were targeted in a brutal campaign of violence by ISIS beginning in 2014. Thousands were killed, and many women and girls were subjected to abduction, forced conversion, and enslavement. Entire communities were displaced, and the impact is still felt today. Cases like this are not just legal proceedings, they are part of a much larger fight for recognition, accountability, and justice for survivors. You can follow the judgment live through this link (for those who speak Kurdish Kurmanji or Dutch): nuhanovicfoundation.org/case/hasna-a-c… #yazidi #yazidigenocide

Civilians and patients must never be targets of violence. The reported attack on a drug rehabilitation facility in Kabul is devastating and highlights the urgent need to protect health facilities and vulnerable populations during conflict. We support calls for accountability, investigation, and the protection of human rights. Health care must remain safe and accessible for all. #Afghanistan #Pakistan #humanrights
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus@DrTedros

An upsurge in hostilities between #Afghanistan and #Pakistan has resulted in at least 6 health facilities reportedly being impacted in Afghanistan since late February. In addition, a reported overnight strike on the Omid Drug Rehabilitation Facility in Kabul, managed by the Ministry of Interior, killed more than 400 people, and injured at least 250, who were being treated for substance use disorders. @WHO is working to verify these incidents. But the intensifying conflict is placing additional strain on health systems and increasing risks to the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. I urge all parties to de-escalate and prioritize peace and health. Peace is the best medicine.

1,636 days without education for Afghan girls means 1,636 days of lost opportunity, lost independence, and lost futures. Education systems shape societies and excluding girls reshapes an entire generation. This is not just a women’s rights issue. It is the systematic removal of half a country’s future. #Afghanistan #genderequality

The displacement crisis in Lebanon is accelerating quickly. Recent reports indicate that hundreds of thousands of civilians are moving north or toward coastal areas as infrastructure, hospitals, and basic services struggle to cope with the sudden population surge. Humanitarian agencies warn that without immediate access to aid corridors, shelter, and medical support, the situation could evolve into a regional humanitarian emergency affecting both Lebanon and neighboring countries. If the international community fails to act now, the humanitarian consequences will spread far beyond Lebanon. Silence is not neutrality, it is complicity. #lebanon #humanrights

UN experts warn of a rapidly escalating displacement crisis in #Lebanon, after intense #Israeli airstrikes & evacuation warnings leave more than 700,000 people displaced, of which 200,0000 are children, in flagrant violation of the UN Charter & int'l law. ohchr.org/en/press-relea…

Today we recognize the strength, resilience, and leadership of women and girls around the world. International Women’s Day is not just a celebration. It is a reminder that equality, safety, and justice are still out of reach for many. At Northern Justice Watch, we stand with those demanding change, amplifying voices that refuse to be silenced, and working toward a future where women and girls can live with dignity, opportunity, and freedom. #InternationalWomenDay2026 #IWD2026 #genderequality #HumanRightsForAll

Globally, women hold just 64% of the legal rights enjoyed by men. “When we are not equal under the law, we are not equal,” said @antonioguterres on Sunday’s #InternationalWomensDay. “It is time to make justice a reality for women & girls, everywhere.” un.org/en/observances…

For many Muslims, Ramadan is a time of reflection, prayer, family, and spiritual renewal. But for Uyghur Muslims, even the most basic expressions of faith have been placed under intense surveillance and control. Across East Turkistan, reports from human rights organizations describe a system where religious identity is treated with suspicion. Mosques have been closed or heavily monitored, cultural traditions have been restricted, and families have been separated through detention and state policies. Entire communities live under constant scrutiny simply for preserving their language, faith, and heritage. #Uyghur #ramadan #humanrights #freedom

Children are always among the most vulnerable in times of conflict. Reports of hundreds of children killed or injured highlight the devastating human cost of escalating violence. Northern Justice Watch echoes the urgent call to protect children, uphold international humanitarian law, and ensure that the safety and rights of civilians remain a priority in all conflicts. #iran

Displacement across borders is a stark indicator of the human consequences of escalating conflict. According to UNHCR, over 40,000 people have already fled Lebanon into Syria in recent days, including both Syrian refugees and Lebanese civilians seeking safety. When communities are forced to leave their homes, access to shelter, and protection, humanitarian aid becomes critical. Northern Justice Watch supports the urgent work of humanitarian organizations assisting displaced populations and emphasizes the need to safeguard civilians during times of conflict. #lebanon #syria #yabous #joussieh
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency@Refugees

Over 43,000 people have fled Lebanon this week across the Jdaidet Yabous and Joussieh border crossings into Syria. Most are Syrians, but some are Lebanese who are also fleeing. UNHCR teams are mobilizing across the region to support and protect those forced to flee.

The safety and dignity of civilians must remain the priority in any conflict. Displacement, fear, and loss should never become normal for families and communities. Northern Justice Watch stands with all civilians affected and calls for the protection of human life, humanitarian access, and efforts toward de-escalation. #lebanon #litaniriver #displacement
Human Rights Watch@hrw

Forced displacement is a war crime, and it’s becoming more of a risk. Only yesterday, the Israeli military called for the evacuation of the entire area south of the Litani River, approximately 8% of Lebanon’s territory and home to hundreds of thousands of people. Today, they issued displacement orders for all residents of the southern suburbs of Beirut, one of the most densely populated areas in the country.

New investigation out tomorrow documents sexual violence, summary killings, and displacement in Ethiopia’s Oromia region. These are not isolated abuses; they are war crimes that demand justice.
