Like a lot of people, my knowledge of my family is a bit hazy beyond my grandparents. I found out from my aunt only this year that my grandfather's uncle Harold Clay was killed at the Somme in 1916, aged 26. He was serving in the 17th Btn of the King's (Liverpool) Regiment. 🧵

Today is Armistice Day, marking the end of the First World War over 100 years ago. We remember and commemorate the fallen from all countries and subsequent conflicts around the world. Lest we forget.

Today is Remembrance Day. At 11am we will be observing a two-minute silence in our museums and galleries to remember the contribution of those in service to their country during wars and conflict.
