If you’re counting at home, that’s 2 marijuana recalls in just the past month. It’s very unfortunate that Sen. @TJShopeforAZ (the Chair of Senate HHS) blocked SB1709, the one testing bill that could have made us safer.

@merissacaldwell @raystern @TJShopeforAZ Re. Point 2: Sen. Shope tried and failed to run a separate bill. His bid ended when his own committee (HHS) decided it was bad policy. Instead, the Senate approved the Majority Leader’s bill, which would have protected people without expanding our cannabis cartel.

@raystern .@TJShopeforAZ can you provide some examples of these products? Also, why not just limit the bill to that scope instead of an omnibus?

SB1466, related to the legal marijuana industry, will not move forward. Sen. @TJShopeforAZ said it didn't receive enough GOP support. The bill would have made numerous changes, incl disallowing Delta 8 and other hemp byproducts as being classified as marijuana.

Consumers, and especially immunocompromised patients, need real reform. This starts with maximum batch sizes, AZDHS reporting requirements, and recordkeeping requirements that allow meaningful investigations. A secret-shopper program should be implemented as well.

Two testing bills were introduced this year. SB1709 would have made a real difference (CC @AZSenatorShamp), but unfortunately, it died in Senate HHS without a hearing. And what does this year’s omnibus bill do? IT ENDS THE TESTING ADVISORY COUNCIL #AzLeg fox10phoenix.com/news/marijuana…
