The middle housing bill squeaks by after more than 15 minutes of tense voting. HB2375 exempts historic districts from a law that allows multi-family housing on single-family lots. It passed w/the minimum 31 votes. Support and opposition was bipartisan

Cody Reim of Rio Verde Foothills will replace Joseph Chaplik in the state Legislature. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors picked him among 3 nominees. Reim will serve the rest of Chaplik's term this year. Chaplik resigned to focus on his run for Congress.

Khalaf and Reim are already running for the open House seats in LD3. Chaplik resigned to focus on his Congressional run.

The three nominees are: pollster George Khalaf, former AZ lawmaker Michelle Ugenti-Rita, and Rio Verde resident Cody Reim. The winner will serve out the rest of Chaplik's term this year in LD3, which covers North Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Cave Creek and Anthem.
