In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. The rumor we mentioned earlier for subscribers sizov.report/?utm_campaign=… has now been confirmed by one of Argentina’s leading newspapers, La Nacion: the U.S. is indeed importing Argentine wheat, reportedly with the involvement of #Cargill. Argentina negotiated a 40K mt sale to the United States - historically an almost unthinkable destination. The cargo was reportedly sold by a consortium of exporters that included Cargill, which declined to comment. The shipment is said to be heading to Ardent Mills in Tampa — a mill specifically designed to import wheat. The driver is price. Argentine wheat at ~$210–220/t FOB, even after freight and tariff, competes with U.S. HRW trading around $280–287/t in Kansas. Market participants stress this is not structural — just a price window. If spreads shift, it could remain a one-off cargo. Still, the optics matter: Argentine wheat displacing HRW in the U.S. Southeast. #grains #wheat #Argentina
