The Lion’s Den–Kafue link is a game-changer for regional logistics in #SADC. By moving freight from road to rail, it drastically cuts costs and boosts trade efficiency. @edmnangagwa's vision for the #Zimbabwe-#Zambia Rail Project is commendable as it creates a more direct "Great North-South" corridor, benefiting multiple destinations. The reduced distances to key ports like #Beira, #SouthAfrica & Dar es Salaam will have a significant impact on trade routes and fuel savings. This initiative perfectly aligns with @AfCFTA goals, emphasising the crucial role of infrastructure in driving real economic growth #ZimZamRail #TradeFacilitation #SADClogistics @NRZ263 @TransportZim @Zanupfparty @UNWTO @tourismzimbabwe @mwitutours @BarbaraRwodzi

Zambia 🇿🇲 and Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 have signed a deal to develop the Lion’s Den–Kafue railway project, valued at over US$2 billion. It includes a 311 km new rail line (217 km in Zimbabwe and 94 km in Zambia) plus upgrades to about 445 km of existing track. The railway is expected to make freight travel much shorter, cutting around 800 km to Beira, up to 1,000 km to South Africa, and about 500 km to Dar es Salaam. It’s aimed at making transport and trade between the two countries and major ports faster and easier across the region.
