I visited the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU - I) Uganda Campus at Jinja. NFSU (I) is India's first overseas public academic campus and has enrolled its first batch in October, 2025. Director, Air Commodore K.R. Thaakar briefed me about the design, scope and ambition for the NFSU, Uganda. I am confident that the institution will grow to serve its mandate and emerge not just as an academic institution engaging in robust R&D, capacity building and the promotion of multidisciplinary forensic sciences, but also as a symbol of the spirit of collaboration and warmth between India and Africa.

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, scheduled to be held in Kampala on 12 May 2026.

NSDC, together with Parul University and Ethnotech Academy, inaugurated the Center for Future Skills, Vadodara, in the esteemed presence of Shri Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science & Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. The initiative is focused on advancing future-ready learning, innovation, and industry-aligned skilling for India’s youth. The Center is powered by a strong NSDC Lab Ecosystem designed to provide immersive, hands-on learning experiences across emerging technologies and next-generation domains. From artificial intelligence and GPU computation at the NVIDIA Lab, cybersecurity training at the Cisco Lab, and automation learning at ABB Labs, to immersive technology exposure through the AR/VR Lab, learners will gain practical industry exposure that bridges classroom learning with real-world application. The ecosystem also includes ANSYS, Adobe, Autodesk, and Apple Labs to further strengthen future-focused skilling opportunities. Mr. Nitin Kapoor, Vice President, NSDC, said, “What stands out is the integration of global certifications with hands-on learning integrating with the existing curriculum. Chief Minister Shri @NayabSainiBJP held a meeting at Sant Kabir Kutir (CM Residence), Chandigarh with representatives of the National Skill Development Corporation to discuss overseas placements and international skill centres for a Future Ready Haryana, along with future collaboration opportunities.
