Key report recommendations: 👉 A new nuclear financing model 👉 Supporting Sizewell C to FID in 2022 👉 Establish the framework in 2022 for UK fleet deployment of SMRs by early 2030s 👉 Government commitment to at least 1 additional GW-scale nuclear plant by the middle of 2024

The report says that if the nuclear fleet is allowed to retire without replacement the UK will: 👉Have to pay for costly fossil fuels and imported power to cover gaps in generation 👉Lose critical skills and unique capabilities 👉Fall further from its climate goals [3/5]

Nuclear energy in the UK needs action now. The UK's 7 stations have been the most productive #lowcarbon assets in our history. BUT, 5 stations will have retired by March 2024, and all 7 by 2030. Only one of our existing fleet will be operating in the next decade. [2/5]
