There is no coalition without trust and this has been betrayed from the beginning by the EPP.They pursue European and national party interests before EU interests.,allying with the extreme right including AFD,FPÖ…They use the distress of the victims of the floods and put into question an effective climate policy.Now we get repeatedly and unambiguously the answer to our question during the campaign:what about the extreme right?What they do nationally they also do it now at EU level.This power game at the cost of Europe is simply unacceptable

As a lead candidate of PES I made it clear that there should be no cooperation with the far right.This was a clear condition for the support to a new mandate for VDL.This condition has been broken again.EPP voted with the whole far right in favour of their amendment on a migration question in the budget report.This has to have political consequences!

We will never cooperate with the far-right. This was a key pledge of our campaign, voiced by @NSchmitPES, PES common candidate. We stand for an inclusive Europe, where democracy, solidarity and the rule of law are upheld.

As a Spitzenkandidat of PES I focused a lot on our combat against the extreme right based on strong commitments signed in Berlin,Rotterdam….I was shocked to see social-democratic PMs to coordinate migration policy with the representatives of the extreme right and conservatives legitimizing their discourse.Wouldn’t it wiser to coordinate a rigorous,realistic sd policy also based on common values?

Youth is the present and the future of Europe. @NSchmitPES, PES common candidate, said it clearly during the EU election campaign. We have put forward a Youth Guarantee, a Child Guarantee, we are promoting programmes like Erasmus+ and pushing for paid traineeships.

👷‍♀️ Our common candidate @NSchmitPES made workers’ rights one of the main topics of our campaign this year. He spearheaded the Platform Worker Directive, ensuring better protection for gig workers, and the Minimum Adequate Wage Directive, which improved working conditions and access to decent salaries all over the EU.

Kamala Harris et Tim Walz réenchantent le Parti démocrate avec un élan et un programme centré sur les difficultés et les aspirations des couches populaires,des classes moyennes des femmes ,des jeunes.La social-démocratie européenne devrait s’en inspirer.J’ai mené la campagne pour les élections européennes avec Elly Schlein en Italie,avecRaphaël Glucksmann en France et avec beaucoup d’autres.Dans ces pays la social-démocratie a remporté des succès.Il est temps d’amplifier ces engagements .Réenchantons la politique et battons nous avec persévérance et enthousiasme pour une politique progressiste et contre une droite et extrême droite qui étouffent la société.

We strongly condemn the terrible escalation of civilian casualties in Gaza. This latest attack on a school with close to 100 deaths is yet another step in an escalating movement by the Netanyahu government that must be denounced and stopped! The excuse that the school was harbouring terrorists is exactly that - an excuse. Israeli Government must comply with @CIJ_ICJ orders and rulings. We call for an immediate ceasefire and liberation of the hostages. Now!

Today, on this tragic 50th anniversary, and every day, we stand with Cyprus. We stand in support of territorial integrity and sovereignty. Cypriots deserve to live in a reunited country in conditions of peace, co-existence, stability and prosperity. The Cyprus question is a European one. We will continue to firmly support Cyprus in the efforts to reunify the last divided EU member state, in line with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.

Congratulations @vonderleyen for your re-election as Commission President. As Lead candidates we both headed a campaign for a strong democratic Europe. All the best for the upcoming mandate. Europe faces major challenges from the outside, as well as from inside. More than ever we need a strong Europe that unites and fosters security, prosperity and social progress.
