@BGFH79 I suspect it's for exactly the same reason as we recommend restarting the PC after updating NVDA. Things get changed; sometimes don't get reloaded into memory properly immediately after updating. Browsers appear to update more seamlessly, but I expect the same can happen

Arrowing up or down for instance just visually scrolls the page, but doesn't read anything. I've noticed this for quite a while, and I'm wondering if there will be a fix where NVDA works correctly after a browser update without needing to restart. Thanks.

@NVAccess quick question. Usually when I do a browser update, I noticed that NVDA doesn't often read the browser window anymore. Sometimes closing and reopening the browser or restarting NVDA works, but I often find restarting the computer is the best option. 1/2

@NVAccess I'm having trouble with sapi 5 on my 2026.1 NVDA portable copy, it's just me? I can't update to the latest version and put my sapi 5 voices in jeopardy.

@nickbrabo97 We are investigating a couple of reported synthesizer issues. It would be worth searching those on github.com/nvaccess/nvda/… and creating a new issue if needed.

@NVAccess Sapi 5 32 bridge fails to open, sapi 5 64 is unable to validate voice tokens. However, when i disabled the voice apointed, it simply accused a new one from a different engine. All my voices are ibrid and works very well on narrator and older NVDA versions

@SlackHQ I don't mind threads but is it possible when I go into a channel to NOT go into the last thread? I constantly post what should be a new message, to a thread because it is not obvious this happens.

@moashy_mango Does it happen after installing NVDA & before restarting the PC? We recommend restarting the PC after installing, to fix various random things which can happen. If it clears up after restarting, then that is likely where the issue was and it's .. not expected, but not surprising.

@NVAccess even when you respond to UAC prompts you still get the error. the funny thing is NVDA 2017.3 doesn't show the error when installing on the same windows 10 system the only thing that fixed it was restarting the system. this does not happen on windows 11

@moashy_mango Google tells me: The "a referral was returned from the server" error in Windows usually indicates a failure in User Account Control (UAC) validation or insufficient permissions, often occurring when launching or installing apps. - Sounds like it may not be installed correctly?

@NVAccess I have a question on the behalf of windows 10 users. and I tested this myself. after installing NVDA on windows, sometimes it doesn't launch and when launching it manually you get the error a referal wasw retruned from the server

@kool_turk Currently, NVDA is submitted to Winget by the community rather than by us. We do have an issue to automate this ourselves: github.com/nvaccess/nvda/… but this has not been done as yet.
