The R510 is one of the problematic roads in the district, with leading incidents involving pedestrians. Today's operation was necessary to educate road users, ensure compliance and enforce the law against offenders.

In preparation for the 2026 Road Safety Easter Campaign, the Bojanala District embarked on a pedestrian safety operation on the R510 in Boitekong this morning.

🚦🚨Traffic Update All roads are now opened. However, motorists are implored to continue driving with caution.

An update in the Klerksdorp taxi road blockade situation is that now N12 is also affected. Earlier only R 503 from Hartbeesfontein/Tigane to Klerksdorp and the R 30 towards Orkney were affected. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Law enforcement is at the scene.

Affected roads are R 503 connecting Hartbeesfontein/Tigane to Klerksdorp and the R 30 at the opposite end going to Orkney and some internal roads. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Engagement with protesting operators is underway.

Motorists travelling to, in and around Klerksdorp are informed that some roads have been blockaded by taxi operators. Ostensibly the blockade is a protest against illegal taxi operators.
