When cooling? The heat feels locked in to start the week but we do have some cooler changes around the corner while fire danger remains high especially across the inland hills. 7/14/2026 #CAwx

I would say any elevation above 500 to 1000 feet tomorrow… the net cooling effect of that marine. Push really won’t pay dividends until Thursday and Friday. Conditions will remain warm, windy and dry higher up for quite some time. In fact, there’s quite a few ridgeline sites in red flag criteria now.

Today's anomalous severe weather event across the Northeast U.S. and Quebec also features a ton of wildfire smoke from fires burning in Ontario, transported into the region along with the potent upper-level disturbance.

The #LedsonFire off of Highway 12 and N Pythian Rd in Kenwood (Sonoma County) is now 35 percent contained. Additional mapping showed that it burned 16.5 acres. No structures were destroyed or damaged in the fire. The evacuation warning for zone SON-3H3 has now been lifted. CAL FIRE will have four engines and one hand crew remain on the fire throughout the night, as crews continue to strengthen the established containment lines and extinguish hotspots.

Hardin Fire Update Due to improved mapping, the Hardin Fire has been updated to 78.6 acres with 60% containment. Thanks to a rapid and coordinated response from firefighters on the ground and in the air, no structures were damaged or destroyed. The fire burned primarily in annual grasses with a moderate rate of spread. Our Napa County Fire Department volunteer firefighters also played a critical role in the response by deploying three water tenders and one engine to the incident, while staffing an additional engine to provide continued fire protection for the Spanish Flat community and the Lake Berryessa area. As temperatures continue to rise this week, please help prevent wildfires by avoiding activities that can spark a fire, limiting out door activities, securing trailer chains, and reporting smoke immediately by calling 9-1-1
