If someone claims to be a City inspector, you have the right to know it’s really us. City personnel will always carry City-issued ID and will never ask about immigration status. If something doesn’t feel right, you don’t have to let anyone in.

Today, Neil Reilly, Assistant Commissioner for Housing Equity at HPD, represented the agency at the Mortgage Bankers Association of New York (MBA of NY)’s 12th Annual Real Estate Lending Summit!

Reaching out to every community in New York City, @NYCHousing commissioner Dina Levy and other HPD principals participated in their third community media round-table this year, to discuss the agency actions and vision to confront the housing crisis head-on and answering questions & listen to those on the front lines informing their respective communities.

Thank you to those who joined our media roundtable. In a housing crisis, New Yorkers need clear, accessible information about housing resources and opportunities. We appreciated discussing HPD’s housing agenda, work across the five boroughs, and future plans.

Then on Wednesday, we announced a historic $31M penalty against the owners of Robert Fulton Terrace & Fordham Towers in the Bronx, where negligent landlords have allowed violations to pile up for years. We also secured a chief restructuring officer to ensure repairs are made.

It’s been a busy week for the Housing and Planning team in NYC!   On Monday, we joined @NYCMayor, @NYPL, @NYCHousing & @RepRitchie to announce a major expansion of the Neighborhood Internet program, bringing free high-speed internet to 2,000 apartments.

Grace's Place is delivering more than 55 units of high-quality, deeply affordable senior housing, with apartments set aside for formerly homeless older adults. It's projects like these that we must continue to replicate across the city, in service of the seniors who built it.

What should public land do for Bed-Stuy? Today, we launched a public engagement process for Fulton-Howard West, a future mixed-use development that would bring 100% affordable housing, expanded community services, and new public space to a City-owned site in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Commissioner Dina Levy is currently speaking at @CityAndStateNY’s Affordable Housing Summit. “On procurement: The way we pay our nonprofits is absurd. If nothing else, I want to fix what’s in our reach. We need some impatience about moving the needle.”
