New: Reps. @RepRitchie, @RepGregoryMeeks, @RepMcCaul and @RepBrianMast have introduced bipartisan legislation to designate the United States Embassy Chancery in Pristina, Kosovo as the “Eliot L. Engel Building.” An embassy chancery is the primary office building or administrative headquarters of a foreign diplomatic mission. The group writes that Rep. Engel was a “leading voice in Congress for U.S. recognition of Kosovo’s independence...” Rep. Engel died earlier this month at age 79. He represented New York's 16th, 17th and 19th Congressional Districts and served as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee from 2019 to 2021.

The sheer speed, scale, and structure of the trades are deeply suspicious. Ask yourself, what kind of trader would make a massive trade 15 minutes before a market-moving presidential announcement with billions of dollars at stake and without a hedge? House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member @RepMaxineWaters and I visited @PonceBank in the Bronx to meet with the leaders of minority depository institutions and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), lenders specifically chartered to serve low-income and underserved communities that the biggest banks won't touch. We talked about threats to the CDFI Fund, deposit insurance reform, and Trump's executive orders that are making it harder for community banks to serve minority families. These institutions are the financial backbone of the Bronx. They deserve a Congress that has their back.
