Yeah, the smart choice.
The Rays didn't need a two month rental like this (neither did the Dodgers tbh) and it's not fiscally responsible for the Rays to dump the prospect capital the Dodgers would have asked for.

@grudz2 I hope you’re right. I’m just saying that there are many many more cases of the Yankees holding onto highly rated prospects until their value sinks to very little - than them holding onto them and it turning out really well for a decent length of time.

@NYFanInCT But Jones will adjust, too. As I said, like Rice, he's very smart. Vandy grad. And he's a super athlete-fast, strong arm, very skilled. He's made adjustments before, and he can do it again. He seems to have a good eye at the plate.#Yankees

@BobbyMilone29 Maybe other contending teams didn’t offer as much because they feel - for the Dodgers he’s probably going to end up resigning long term there - but for everyone else it would just be a 2-3 month rental.

@grudz2 I’m as big a fan as Spencer’s as anyone and really hoping he does well and stays here. Very happy how he’s playing. But maybe take it down a notch as other Yankees prospects looked great early on but they didn’t last very long. The league adjusts.

@hgomez27 Dodgers know this is going to happen either way - so why not just go for it now and try to win 3 🏆 in a row? I’m a Yankees fan and what they are doing now makes perfect sense to me. Take advantage of the system before they change the system. 🤷♂️
