Earlier today, we celebrated the life of Detective Steven McDonald. Despite the tragic shooting that left him paralyzed in 1986, Steven continued to share his powerful message of forgiveness and love with the world until his passing in 2017. I’ve had the honor of calling Patti Ann McDonald a friend during my entire time with the NYPD, and watched with pride as their son Conor has built a distinguished career in this Department. The entire family is an inspiration, and a symbol of all that is right with the NYPD and New York City.
