@NYRLouie Loved that clip when it came out last summer. Thought it was such a great job of combining modern analytics with hockey sense and play style

Being able to find soft spots in defensive alignments and identifying space is one of the most underrated tools Chris Kreider always did that well Alexis Lafreniere also does that extremely well, how many of his goals are rebounds/putbacks/deflections… especially in that 2024 season Alexis Lafreniere does a great job in putting himself in prime goal scoring positions. The big difference between him and Kreider is that he has the hands and puck skills to be a dynamic play creator as well as the IQ to be a player finisher #NYR

I think Malhotra is a Ranger any pick we have that he’s available outside of 1 and even that may be a possibility He’s a 6’2, 200 foot center who plays a little chippy, dominating the OHL playoffs and is committed to Boston University for next year Drury made him in a lab for what he wants, only if he was American

He’s always been not good, but somehow, he’s getting worse despite Rangers defensive structure and system getting better. The only reason he isn’t an F, is because he was able to grind out a positive WAR for the season. In 518.3 minutes with Vlad Gavrikov, Schneider and him had a 41.1 xGoal%. In 250 minutes with Robertson, they had a 47.9 xGoal%. In a 157.8 minutes with Soucy, they had a 42.4 xGoal%. In 138.9 minutes with Borgen, they had a 44.2 xGoal%. In 188.9 minutes with Vaakanainen, they had a 48.9 xGoal%. Basically what I’m trying to show you, no matter who his partner is, the pair struggles He his 2nd percentile in zone exit success rate, which means he’s one of the worst in the league at clearing his own zone. 22nd percentile in D-Zone retrievals, he can’t win board battles. All he does is hit and fire slap shots on goal with the occasional zone entry. He is one of the worse NHL defenseman in his own D-Zone and he’s well below average in the O-Zone, he doesn’t produce, he doesn’t defend well. Can’t defend the rush, takes awful angles. Has a poor stick, doesn’t disrupt the play. Bad player. D-
