Aukosh Jagannath (Waterloo) visited CDS recently for a colloquium on the training dynamics and local geometry of high-dimensional learning. He spoke about how stochastic gradient descent's behavior on statistical models reduces to a finite-dimensional dynamical system.

CDS PhD students recently gathered for a community-building lunch hour to catch up and share a few rounds of Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

The hackathon was organized by Tandon's Department of Technology Management and Innovation (TMI) and the Tandon Graduate Student Council (GSC), in partnership with Google Developer Groups (GDG) NYC. 5/5
