@blondederin When did this become a central tenant of American sports? The most popular sport in the world doesn’t have a salary cap and the soccer industry seems to be doing just fine. Stop protecting shitty owners who don’t spend

A reminder that the idea of “parity” and “fairness” in baseball isn’t about equal outcomes. It isn’t about making sure there is a different champion every year. It isn’t about participation trophies. It’s about equal opportunity. It’s about leveling the playing field so each ball club has the chance to win based on skill, tactic, and how the organization is run—not because they have the most money.
nugget chef@jayhaykid

I wish baseball had the sort of parity the NFL has, where the Patriots have advanced to the Super Bowl only 10 times in the last 25 years.

A couple half-baked Freddy Peralta trade thoughts... -Did the strength of the '26 free agent SP class influence Mets' comfort giving up Sproat? -Tobias Myers is a sneaky important piece of this trade -Sproat is a horse. If you don't like him, I don't like you

Luis Robert Jr. is what PAP was created for. Robert Jr posted a 2.50 PAP score in 2025 with the White Sox, one of the league’s lowest payrolls. Moving his contract to the Mets raises his projected 2026 PAP to 4.24 and any production bounce makes this an efficient deal for NYM.

A lot of people think “maxing the 401k” means getting the full match, not actually “maxing the 401k” and that’s concerning.

I’m really unclear what the value of a verbal agreement is if it can be canceled for almost any or no reason. I like Danny Rowland, too, but is that a reason to cancel an agreement? Maybe, just maybe, he canceled cause he hoped he could get more $?
Jon Heyman@JonHeyman

Highly ranked Dominican SS Wandy Asigen has flipped from Yanks to Mets. After NYY severed ties with international scouting director Donny Rowland, Asigen canceled his verbal NYY agreement. Yanks declined to meet new price. Mets reportedly will pay $3.8M @francysromeroFR 1st

@PSLToFlushing It does feel like the current regime is trying really hard to win every single deal instead of just putting the best team out there on a yearly basis

@WexlerRules @Mets Pretty frustrating. As of now, hard to pick something that the Mets do well in 2026. Mediocre offense/bullpen/and starters

In a theoretical world where the Mets added 2 "top" SP and lost Diaz (as Bowden's think-piece posits) one option might be moving Holmes to the 8th. I still like Holmes as a SP (especially year 2) but Holmes/Williams on paper would be very good #Mets

@WexlerRules It’s always the guys with zero range that ppl don’t understand why they are bad defenders. Also I can kind of see if Semien is a hedge to re-signing Alonso to cover some of his deficiencies. I don’t think Stearns is as extreme as ppl make him out to be

@ramit I work in accounting, not as sexy as tech or whatever but 8 years in I’m just over 200k total comp (incl. bonus) my boss is in his 50s is CAO and his total comp is in the 750k-825k range at a small-ish private insurance company. Lack of CPAs helps us

Below, this person says, "you'll never make over $750K being an employee." I used to believe this. It's understandable, since growing up, I didn't know anyone like this But every time someone posts a comment like this, tons of people respond pointing out the many W2 jobs that pay this much. Yet people still refuse to believe it Yes, it's hard to earn this much and yes, it's extremely rare. But these jobs exist. In fact, you could earn half of this and still be a top earner! Instead of saying "you'll never make over $750K being an employee," I wish people would say, "Hey, I don't know of any jobs that pay this much. Can someone share a few examples of jobs that pay $250K, $350K, even $750K? I want to learn what it takes to land these jobs." Go from D to C: Disparagement to Curiosity If your goal is to earn money, there are so many jobs that pay you a LOT of money, and nobody is keeping them secret. But you have to be aggressively curious to learn about them
John B.@MrJohnMBartlett

@moseskagan You'll never make over 750k being an employee, and you'll never make over that not being valuable.
