@JAMIEPERKlNS @HuggyGB @StevePrice19 Hmm I feel like it's more that things have to be asymmetrical? Which usually provides the imbalance, because you start comparing apples with oranges that taste better when in a crêpe (3rd party stuff like table layout , player 1 etc)

@HuggyGB @StevePrice19 While agreed, I’m suspending the difference between casual and competitive play for the purposes of this point.
That said, I still think ‘imbalance’ on a micro level is necessary for a competitive miniature game to be fun, for me. Even though I want it to be balanced overall.

Entirely correct that a game can be ‘overbalanced’.
However this is subjective. It’s for each person to determine how well balanced they want their game to be for it to be fun.

this obviously doesn't apply to every game but fun is always more important than balance balance serves fun. balance is not, by itself, fun. it's entirely possible to balance all the fun out of a game. and that's overdevelopment
