@ShahidMohmand79 This requires a deep structural dismantling from the very foundations of the system. There's no reforming it when it is made for this perpetuation. Our laws are still colonial. That in itself is the root of the problem

While all the ruckus and general feeling is about 'elites' getting 'treatment', I am not sure people comprehend the overall repercussions of forced evictions, whether its 1-Constitution or Bari Imam. It simply means that there is no law in this country but only the law 1/2

@formanite90 @pind_wave Is this you? Btw, the fact that you think calling me an "aunty", which is actually a term of respect, doesn't say much for your own intellect and emotional maturity young man. x.com/i/status/20498…

@pind_wave Another sign of low intelligence is getting personal and angry in general discussion. Again my point is proven. Go find a real women philosopher rather than pea sized angry women know an feminists. Philosophers like David Hume, plato, decartes etc.

True intellectual and intelligent men like to date intellectual women But hard to find an intellectual woman, out of thousand may be 1 or you can say less than one percent women are intellectual to some capacity.

"A European study found urban birds flew away sooner when approached by women than men. Men got about 1 metre closer on average before the birds scarpered. It held across 37 species and five countries. Scientists don’t know why. They controlled for height, clothing color, direct gaze, and long hair being visible.."

I rent at One Constitution Avenue. Last night, at around 1 AM, I was jolted awake by aggressive banging on my door. My heart raced — I initially feared thieves or intruders had broken in. When I stepped out, I was confronted by nearly 50 heavily armored police officers, rude and visibly ready to beat us up if we resisted. They did not deny it was a forced eviction. The security staff and police showed no court order, no legal documents, and offered no explanation. They merely barked instructions: vacate the premises by 12 noon today. Only in the morning did I learn that this midnight raid was supposedly backed by a court order. Why am I not surprised? This is precisely what we have come to expect from Pakistan’s “protocol courts.” The building has been in legal dispute for over 20 years. During all this time, the courts allowed people to buy apartments, invest their hard-earned money, and rent them out lawfully. Tenants like me exercised our individual property rights and tenancy rights in good faith. Now, all of a sudden, without any prior notice, hearing, or reason, they want us to vacate overnight. What court in the world issues such an order — authorizing 50 armed policemen to raid a residential building at 1 AM, treating law-abiding citizens like criminals? I called several journalists, but none showed interest. There should have been TV crews and radio teams here to document this injustice. Our judges appear to be uneducated protocol seekers rather than guardians of justice and the Constitution. Is this judgment lawful in any manner? Even if an eviction were technically legal after 20 years of disputes, should it ever be executed in such a brutal, inhumane, and overnight fashion — without basic dignity, due process, or time for residents to arrange alternatives? This sets a terrifying precedent for every tenant and property owner in the country. Property rights are being trampled, and ordinary citizens are left helpless. What is it about judges hate for buildings. ?

Big Breaking.

@salmanmasood Well, at least now we know the government doesn't distinguish between rich and poor tenants. Quite a spectrum of equal treatment of eviction going on in Islamabad in the last few weeks.

Police moved in heavily at One Constitution Avenue in Islamabad's Red Zone in the dead of night to enforce a court order tied to the long-running ownership and legality disputes around the luxury high-rise. The law may be against the builders, and so be it. But enforcing it doesn't mean ditching basic decency. Rolling in at 1 a.m. and pushing 200-plus families out, many of them tenants and several foreign nationals, with little or no fair notice, is brute force disguised as procedure. Tenants have rights too. This was enforcement stripped of judgment and humanity. A poor look for a state so fixated on polished optics. Unless the High Court specifically ordered evacuation within 12 hours, why was no reasonable notice given? Where were foreign and local tenants supposed to go at 1 a.m., and what were they meant to do with their belongings? Even local residents would struggle to round up movers or trucks into the Red Zone at that hour. If the legal case was years in the making, the least the authorities could have managed was a competent, humane plan for carrying it out. The execution was a shambles. — Message from a friend about whats going on at One Constitution Avenue right now.

@AmmarRashidT @NadeenNasir Those who have identically regulated billboards may be. Or they simply don't want to pay the extra charges as a registered entity to retain their individual identity within the regulation framework. I believe the choice is available to those registered Vs unregistered.

@NabahAli @NadeenNasir Ah okay, this is a tax registration policy? So that would mean all the shops in this Clock Tower Bazar are unregistered then?

@AmmarRashidT @NadeenNasir This will slowly negate the individuality of the shops and thus the phenomenon of commercial landmarks within our streets. It's a system of neutralising by silencing,. enforcing conformity and one step closer to gentrification. The "clutter" is so unappealing you see ..

@AmmarRashidT @NadeenNasir So apparently, those businesses that have an NTN, are registered with the FBR and have a formal business are allowed their own individual branding. The informal businesses don't. One either gets in line or surrenders their individual identity. Irony...thy name is taxation.

@NadeenNasir this is definitely an improvement of the space but I don't understand the admin's need to put up uniform signage on shops (the same was done in Pindi Saddar). it would be better to just have signage standards & allow individual branding within them. its a market not a govt dept.

@MominISheikh I think people are missing the cultural association with furniture. The idea is that a bedroom set is an investment for life at the time of marriage. And it can be passed down to the next generation. IKEA is great for the younger generation of transient, disposable lifestyle.

In Pakistan IKEA can source pretty much their entire inventory locally. Yet no one has been able to replicate the concept here? The problem may lie in precision and product engineering Each ikea product is engineering to be minimal and be able to disassemble and reassemble

@vineeth_naik @OraclingOerty @dafucboi But I feel in the last few years, the absolute hypocrisy of exploitation of rule-of-law has been exposed globally, so I'm personally alot more pragmatic about it now, in the sense that I don't believe that we are an anomaly anymore. I'm glad we had this exchange.

@vineeth_naik @OraclingOerty @dafucboi All developing and developed countries have elites and those belongings to a lower socio-economic group as you also have in India. It is an unfortunate state for the masses no doubt. We have excellent public and private academic institutions. Laws unfortunately are manipulated 3/

@vineeth_naik @OraclingOerty @dafucboi Hi Vineeth. Genuine question... How underdeveloped do you think Pakistan is? I'm surprised that you didn't know we have gas piplelines and gas geysers. What is the general impression about the basic infrastructure in Pakistan and it's urban, peri-urban and rural areas? Thanks.

Ofc Al Qaeda is using “Trump-Pak ties” in its recruitment efforts here. Pak state needs to sharpen its narrative among vulnerable populations esp to combat this. There is no comparison between Musharraf-Bush & Munir-Trump era. The latter does not include military/economic aid. Pakistan is still barred from purchasing most US military equipment. National Defense Complex is still sanctioned despite the last year of US-Pak pleasantries. There has been no structural change in US-Pak ties, which for the most part have been in free fall since 2011 OBL incident. Yet many can easily be misled by the simplistic framing in the mainstream media abt a “special” US-Pak relationship, leading to groups like AQ gaining legitimacy. The Pak state is already losing the propaganda game against the Taliban, who are not even as sophisticated as AQ in this regard.
Ihsanullah Tipu Mehsud@IhsanTipu

Statement is an attempt to build a fresh ideological narrative against Pakistan, citing current Trump-Pak ties, similar to its post-9/11 era stance when Pak joined US camp. In the statement, Al-Qaeda vows to support Taliban against Pak govt "to the best of its ability & energy.”
