Celtic's double now takes them 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 trophies clear of their great rivals Rangers. 🏆 Just 16 years ago, the Hoops were only on 92 to Rangers' 115. 📉 Can the blue side of Glasgow ever catch up with the green side again? 🤔

What I love, Shankland has waited for this move literally for years. Waited on signing contracts, waited on holidays, whatever, it’s always been his dream The dream that means we’ll get that extra 10% from one of our own that we’ve so badly needed ‘Mon home son 🥹👏🏻

The era when football clubs were expected to simply complain internally to the very governing body accused of misconduct is firmly over. Across the UK—including in Scotland—clubs operating as substantial business entities now have access to robust external legal and regulatory channels to pursue redress when they believe negligence, bias, or deliberate assistance by a governing body (such as the FA, Premier League, EFL, SFA, or SPFL) has caused them to lose a title or suffer competitive disadvantage. cypcs.org.uk Football clubs are major commercial operations generating revenue through prize money, broadcasting deals, sponsorships, merchandising, and fan engagement. A lost title due to improper conduct can inflict significant commercial harm (lost income streams), reputational damage (affecting brand value and investor confidence), and impact on intellectual property (e.g., trademarks, club branding, and associated goodwill tied to on-pitch success). These are not mere sporting grievances—they are economic injuries in a competitive market, and UK business law treats them as such, with breaches equally accountable whether in England or Scotland. slaughterandmay.com Key External Channels for Redress Under UK Business Law (Applicable Across Jurisdictions) 1. Competition Law (Competition Act 1998 – Chapter I & II)
This UK-wide framework is enforced by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and applies equally in Scotland and England. Governing bodies hold dominant positions in organising competitions. Deliberate favoritism, biased refereeing, selective rule enforcement, or negligence that distorts outcomes can amount to an abuse of dominance or anti-competitive practice. Rules must be transparent, objective, non-discriminatory, and proportionate. • Clubs can complain directly to the CMA for investigation, fines, or remedies. • Private actions are available in the High Court (England) or Court of Session (Scotland), or via the Competition Appeal Tribunal for damages covering lost profits and economic losses.
This route directly addresses market distortion and commercial harm, with precedents involving Scottish bodies. cypcs.org.uk 2. Contractual and Tort Claims
Participation in leagues creates contractual relationships with implied duties of fairness, good faith, and impartial administration. Breaches—whether negligent or deliberate—allow claims for damages in the appropriate courts.
Tort routes (applicable UK-wide) include tortious interference with economic relations, civil conspiracy, or fraud/misrepresentation. These can cover reputational harm, lost commercial opportunities, and impacts on club IP/goodwill. 3. Company and Fiduciary Law
Clubs are companies, and governing bodies (often structured as companies or associations) owe duties of impartiality and care. • Claims for breach of fiduciary duties by officials/directors. • Unfair prejudice petitions under the Companies Act 2006 (applies across the UK). • Derivative actions protecting shareholder value, including IP and goodwill.
These provide strong accountability for business impacts in both jurisdictions. 4. Regulatory Oversight and Independent Bodies • In England: The Independent Football Regulator (IFR), established under the Football Governance Act 2025, marks a major shift from self-regulation. It has investigative powers over governance and sustainability in the top tiers and offers an external route for clubs to raise concerns about systemic bias or negligence affecting commercial viability. skadden.com • In Scotland: While there is no direct equivalent to the IFR as of 2026, calls for enhanced independent oversight continue.

How can anyone look at this chart and not consider that there is something absolutely stinking within the Scottish game? @CelticFC handed a Tainted title thanks to corrupt means yet there is not a single rat being held responsible. Collum. Doncaster & an array of corrupt refs🤷🏻

Cheating dog bastards. Sickens me they’re parading about with a Double this year when they shouldn’t have been anywhere near silverware. The SFA were never letting them go trophy less, I actually want to see action outside of SFA HQ calling for change.

Wee Martin O’Neill…… The only job in the only league where he can trot off into the sunset as hero. Any other job and this dinosaur fucks off with his tail between his legs. A league title literally gift wrapped through blatant corruption and cheating. Only in Scotland.

@chris_sutton73 Chris asks: "How this Celtic team have won a double?" The simple answer is they were awarded an outrageous penalty that never was. Without that it would have been Hearts' title & NO Celtic double. Simple as Chris knows.

There isn’t being enough made about this. Martin O’Neill was given a 1-2-1 with referee chief Willie Collum, that nobody else seems to have been afforded. Then in the week after it, 7 key decisions were wrong which gifted Celtic the title. Hearts should be all over this.
