Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons #NPT will convene @UN from 27 April – 22 May 2026 for the 11th Review Conference - #NPT2026 (1/3)

Today, @INakamitsu met with #JO1 @official_jo1 during the band's visit of the UNHQ here in NYC. We are delighted that members of JO1 decided to join the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs the hashtag#NONE campaign clearly saying: Not One Nuclear Explosion!

Hamasumi Jiro, the Acting Secretary General of Nihon Hidankyo, shared his family’s survival story at the third Meeting of States Parties to the #TPNW this week. For their full remarks, visit docs-library.unoda.org/Treaty_on_the_…

It was an honor to meet with members of 2024 Nobel Peace Prize winner Nihon Hidankyo earlier this week as they are visiting the UNHQ to participate in #3MSP of the #TPNW. Their stories of resilience should be heard by all.

Terumi Tanaka, is one of the survivors of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. Today he delivered the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize lecture on behalf of the organisation Nihon Hidankyo, which has steadfastly worked towards eliminating nuclear weapons and reminding the world of the horrific suffering they cause: “The deaths I witnessed at that time could hardly be described as human deaths. There were hundreds of people suffering in agony, unable to receive any kind of medical attention. I strongly felt that even in war, such killing and maiming must never be allowed to happen […] It is the heartfelt desire of the Hibakusha that, rather than depending on the theory of nuclear deterrence, which assumes the possession and use of nuclear weapons, we must not allow the possession of a single nuclear weapon. Please try to imagine -- there are 4,000 nuclear warheads, ready to be launched immediately. This means that damage hundreds or thousands of times greater than that which happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki could happen right away. Any one of you could become either a victim or a perpetrator, at any time. I therefore plead for everyone around the world to discuss together what we must do to eliminate nuclear weapons, and demand action from governments to achieve this goal.” Read Terumi Tanaka’s full speech: bit.ly/49vUzRO
