Meet Alyssa Woody, a dedicated Head Start teacher with over 20 years of experience, currently working as a Head Start Teacher at Perrin Early Childhood Center for Sherman ISD. Known for her innovative teaching methods, Alyssa has secured over $14,000 in grants for impactful projects like the “Outdoor Learning Center” and curated engaging family events such as the “Night at the Art Museum.” Her passion lies in creating a nurturing environment that fosters growth, joy, and meaningful connections with students and their families. Alyssa believes that building relationships with families is key to student success. One of her most cherished memories is sharing a holiday meal with a student's grandmother during her first year of teaching—a moment that reinforced the importance of community and connection. Through her work, Alyssa continues to inspire colleagues and spark a love for learning, showing that Head Start is more than a program; it’s a foundation for lifelong success. As we wrap up Head Start Awareness Month, we would like to give a round of applause to Alyssa and all the incredible educators working in Head Start/Early Head Start programs! Thank you all for your dedication to sparking a joy for learning in our youngest learners! 👏

Starting 2021 digging into a new book! “School leaders both site leaders and central office leaders must focus on boosting the resilience of staff as a lever for school transformation.” @brightmorningtm As Principal this must be a focus in 2021!

If we can still weep with compassion for strangers, sacrifice something for another’s wellbeing, if we’re still willing to forgive & be forgiven, still willing to try again, if we still have faith the size of a mustard seed, then light broke through the darkness in the year 2020.

2020 was filled with worry and anxiety. In 2021, let’s Focus on what we CAN control... 1. Who you will LOVE and CARE for 2. What your ATTITUDE will be each day 3. Where you will GIVE your attention 4. How you will RESPOND to difficulties 5. WHY you want to make a DIFFERENCE

I love this time of year between Christmas and the New Year. It’s a time of reflection, hope, vision and possibility. A time to think about who you want to be and the life you want to create.

Admin, instead of just evaluating, try Aspirational Conversations with staff to show you value them. 1) Have we helped you succeed? 2) What do you think we do well? 3) What do you think would make us better? 4) What are your professional goals? How can we help you achieve them?

Treat kids with respect and dignity, even when they do not treat you the same way. Be the adult. Our words matter more and last longer than we'll ever know. #HackingSchoolDiscipline

Greatness isn’t achieved by worrying what everyone thinks of you. Don’t look outside. The praise, criticism, expectations; it’s all just noise. Look inside to your heart and soul and do it with love and create greatness from the inside out.
