He looked normal.
Calm. Unbothered. Just another man walking through Nairobi with a backpack.
But inside that bag… was something no one could imagine.
Human remains.
The remains of a young woman who had trusted him with her life.
John Kiama Wambua, 29, a carpenter from Huruma Estate, had murdered his 19-year-old wife, Joy Fridah Munani.
For days, Joy had been missing. Her family worried, searched, hoped. But the truth was far worse than anything they could have prepared for. She wasn’t just gone—she had been brutally killed and reduced to pieces.
On the morning of 21 January 2025, police on patrol near Kelly Towers stopped Wambua. The bag he carried raised suspicion, but nothing about his face showed panic. He stood there, as if it was just another ordinary morning.
Then officers opened the backpack.
What they saw changed everything.
Inside were dismembered human body parts.
Even then, Wambua didn’t react. No fear. No shock. He simply told them the remains belonged to his wife.
He later led officers back to the single-room house they shared.
That room held the rest of the truth.
More body parts were hidden under the bed.
A kitchen knife, soaked in blood, lay nearby, most probably the weapon used.
Joy’s clothes were still there.
And the floor… stained, marking the exact place where her life had ended.
The killing followed a domestic argument, over another man. Weeks later, Wambua tried to take back his confession, claiming he had been forced to sign it.
But some parts of Joy’s body were never found.
Wambua was taken to court on 22 January 2025. Since then, the case has continued,no final judgement.
Joy was only 19.
She never imagined that the person beside her would become the one to end her life in such a brutal way.
This is a reminder that—sometimes the danger isn’t outside.
Sometimes… it’s right at home.
Rest in peace, Joy.

Have you ever seen a tweet that doesn't even concern you, but you immediately go to that person's profile and block them because you don’t want to see any more of their thoughts on your timeline ever again?

1. Men know exactly what they are doing. Always remember that.
2. It is not your responsibility to change a man. In fact, you cannot change a man, but you can change the man. Read that again.
3. Men will treat you based on how they feel about you and how you carry yourself. If he’s not treating you with care, he doesn’t like you. Don’t make excuses for him.
4. No man can go a day without talking to a woman he is in love with.
5. An inconsistent man doesn’t like you. Only showing up when it is convenient for him is a red flag 🚩
6. There is no such thing as a nonchalant man. That man doesn’t like you. He’s “chalanting” elsewhere.
7. If a man cheats on you and you find out, and instead of leaving the relationship you choose to stay, he will start seeing you as a foól.
8. Your self-respect must be greater than your feelings and libido. Do not ever beg a man to love you. Begging is disgusting.
9. Men are very thoughtful when they are in love. They make time, plan things, and put effort where their heart is. A low-effort man doesn’t like you.
10. The highest form of love is consideration. Any man who doesn’t consider you, how his actions make you feel, or how to make your life easier within his capacity doesn’t like you. Walk away.
11. Lastly, you accept the love you think you deserve. However a man treats you, if you stay, you are a willing participant, not a victim. If you think you deserve better, you know exactly what to do.

She stepped out that night with a stranger, unaware that trust would become a trap. By morning, her body was broken, her spirit crushed, her life slipping away in the quiet horror of a hospital room. What began as an ordinary evening ended in violence so raw, it still refuses to be forgotten.
First meet up,first date. Did she trust so much?
Velvine Nungari Kinyanjui was 24 years old. A waitress at Destiny Garden in Ruiru, she carried the quiet strength of someone who showed up every day, serving others with a smile while holding her own hopes close.
On the evening of 23 February 2021, while at work, she met Joseph Kinyua Murimi. They spoke, connected, and agreed to meet later for drinks once her shift ended. She was supposed to be joined by a friend that night, but the friend could not make it.
Velvine went ahead. The two spent time together, moving from one spot to another before ending up at Sinnot Hotel in Kiamumbi. CCTV footage captured them at the reception, collecting the key to a room.
The next morning, when Velvine did not show up, her worried friend traced her movements to the hotel. Staff confirmed they had seen her go upstairs with a man. They went to the room and found Velvine lying unconscious on the bed.
She was rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KU Referral Hospital). Doctors found she had been severely beaten. Her spinal cord was broken, with compression fractures along her vertebral column. There were also cervical fractures and other serious injuries consistent with violent trauma, including sexual assault.
Velvine fought for her life over several days in hospital, but the damage was too great. She died on 9 March 2021. An autopsy confirmed that the fractures to her spine had led to complications, including the collapse of her lungs.
Joseph Kinyua Murimi was arrested as the prime suspect. He had been seen with her that night and was the last person known to have been in the room with her. Shockingly, despite the horror of the crime, he was later released on Kshs 200,000 cash bail. Detectives examined CCTV evidence and other leads, but the outrage remained: a young life had been violently stolen, and the world demanded justice.
She was a young woman who stepped out with someone she had just met, trusting the evening would be ordinary — only to suffer brutal violence that stole her life.

The current plan to destroy Nairobi National Park for a parking space is not development but a loss. Protected areas are our life-support systems. We call for the halting of clearing and protection of our park as once it is gone, it is gone forever. #ProtectNairobiNationalPark
