I am deeply honored to be the recipient of the Lisa Smirl Prize. To know that the distinguished scholars on the panel thought my work to be noteworthy is something truly special, as was the support I received from @sharath_sri and my peers in @Dept_of_POLIS during the entire PhD.

Inspired by John Dunn’s essay of the same name, I’ve written a review essay on three recent books, on ‘the future of liberalism’ 1. Liberalism Against Itself @samuelmoyn 2. Liberalism as a Way of Life @alex_usyd 3. Regenerative Politics @EmmaPlaninc doi.org/10.1080/095575…

Reading scholarship on the relationship between time and politics against Arendt’s concept of action, I argue that another temporal language, or another conception of agency, is necessary to address climate change politically

What happens to agency when climate catastrophe is cast as the eschatological end of linear time itself? I argue that making sense of world-ending climate change through the language of religious eschatology, undermines the space and time for action, in an Arendtian sense.

Thrilled that this is out in RIS with the one-of-a-kind @Juliewilhelmse2! Scholars of #ontosec and #securitisation, behold: This is slow-cooked theorisation on self/other securitisation, ambiguous threat constructions, anxiety, and conflict, looking at #Russian rhetoric on #NATO.
Julie Wilhelmsen@Juliewilhelmse2

How do security buzz-words and political rhetoric drive conflict in todays international relations? So proud to have this article on the case of #Russia on #NATO co-authored with the brilliant @annihjermann out in RIS 💫 cambridge.org/core/journals/…

Gilroy’s work on the Black Atlantic diaspora offers important perspectives on rights, community and modernity. I argue that nationalism studies should look to diasporas when grappling with the conceptual change that anthropogenic climate change requires of the field
