Spearheading the Fight Against HIV and AIDS.

Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale held a strategic meeting with Global Fund Vice President Bience Gawanas on the margins of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting in Nairobi, focusing on Kenya’s ongoing health reforms and the future of the partnership. The discussions underscored the Global Fund’s critical contribution to strengthening Kenya’s health system, particularly in expanding access to HIV treatment, tuberculosis control, and malaria interventions. The meeting also reviewed progress under Taifa Care and Universal Health Coverage (UHC), with over 30 million Kenyans now enrolled in social health insurance, supported by a growing community health workforce driving primary healthcare delivery. Against a backdrop of tightening global health financing, Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to increasing domestic resource mobilisation while sustaining essential health programmes. Both sides identified opportunities to deepen collaboration in local pharmaceutical manufacturing and digital health to improve system resilience and efficiency. The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Director-General for Health Patrick Amoth and senior Ministry of Health officials.
