News coming in from #Jalpaiguri district of #WestBengal. After losing the election, TMC candidate Krishna Das and his gangs are seen today with swords. Today, Krishna Das and his gang stabbed 6 BJP workers who were going to a temple. Injured BJP workers are now undergoing treatment.

Her name was Ruchika Girhotra. She was 14 years old. A tennis player from Panchkula, Haryana. On August 12 1990, she went to meet S.P.S. Rathore at his office. He was the Inspector General of Police and head of the Haryana Lawn Tennis Association. He had promised her father he would arrange special coaching for her. When her friend stepped out of the room, he molested her. Her family filed a complaint three days later. Rathore had her expelled from school. Her father was suspended from his bank job on false charges. Six cases were filed against her brother Ashu. The family's house was forcibly sold. They fled to the outskirts of Shimla and took up earth filling work to survive. On December 28 1993, days after Ashu was paraded in handcuffs through their neighbourhood, Ruchika consumed poison. She died the next day. She was 17. Rathore threw a party that night. He then refused to release her body to her father unless he signed blank papers. Those papers were later used to forge documents accepting a false autopsy report. Despite a police inquiry recommending an FIR against him, Rathore kept getting promoted. He became the Director General of Police of Haryana in 1999. The case went through 40 adjournments and more than 400 hearings over 19 years. In December 2009 a court convicted him of molestation. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and fined Rs 1,000. The sentence was later enhanced to 18 months. The Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 2016 but reduced it to the time already served. He walked free. The judge who tried to add abetment to suicide charges against him was forced into premature retirement. The judge who dismissed those charges was a neighbour of Ruchika's family involved in a property dispute with them. S.P.S. Rathore was later invited as a VIP guest to a Republic Day event in Panchkula. Ruchika Girhotra was 14 when he molested. She was 17 when she died. Follow for stories India deserves to remember.

ಜೆ ಸಾಯಿ ದೀಪಕ್ ಅವರು ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಸರಣಿ ಟ್ವೀಟ್ ಗಳ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅನುವಾದ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ನಾವೆಲ್ಲ ಓದಬೇಕಾದ ವಿಷಯ ಇದು. ನೂಪುರ್ ಶರ್ಮಾ ಅವರ ಜೊತೆ ಫೋನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತಾಡಿದೆ. ನನಗಂತೂ ಅವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಖುಷಿ ಆಗ್ತಿದೆ. ನಾವಿಬ್ಬರೂ 2021ರ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ ಚುನಾವಣೋತ್ತರ ಹಿಂಸಾಚಾರದ ಆ ಕರಾಳ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನ ನೆನಪು ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳ್ತಾ ಇದ್ವಿ. ಆಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೇನಾಯ್ತು ಅನ್ನೋದು ಜನರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಲಿ ಅಂತ ನಾನು ಇದನ್ನ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ತಾ ಇದೀನಿ. 2021ರ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ ಎಲೆಕ್ಷನ್ ರಿಸಲ್ಟ್ ಬಂದ್ಮೇಲೆ, ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಪೋರ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದ ಹಿಂದೂಗಳನ್ನ ಪ್ಲಾನ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅನ್ನೋ ಸುದ್ದಿಗಳು ಬರಕ್ಕೆ ಶುರುವಾದವು. ಇದು ಯಾವುದೋ ಒಂದು ಏರಿಯಾಕ್ಕೆ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೋಶಿಯಲ್ ಮೀಡಿಯಾದ ಡೈರೆಕ್ಟ್ ಮೆಸೇಜ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಘೋರ ವಿಡಿಯೋಗಳು ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಹರಿದಾಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ವು. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಗಮನಿಸಬೇಕಾದ್ದು ಅಂದ್ರೆ, ಹಿಂದೂ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರನ್ನ, ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಗೆ ಸಪೋರ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದವರನ್ನ ಟಾರ್ಗೆಟ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಲೈಂಗಿಕ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಸಿಪಿಐ(ಎಂ) ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಫ್ಯಾಮಿಲಿಯನ್ನೂ ಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೆಲವು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆಲುವು ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಮೇಲೆ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಅಂತಲೇ ಮೊದಲೇ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ರೂಮ್‌ಗಳನ್ನ ಬುಕ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರು ಅನ್ನೋ ವರದಿಗಳಿವೆ. ಡೈಮಂಡ್ ಹಾರ್ಬರ್ ಅನ್ನೋ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವಾಹಿತ ಹಿಂದೂ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರನ್ನ ಕಿಡ್ನಾಪ್ ಮಾಡಿ, ಅವರನ್ನ ಬಿಡಿಸೋಕೆ ಗಂಡಂದಿರಿಂದ 25,000 ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಹಣ ಕೇಳಿದ್ರು. ದುಡ್ಡು ಕೊಡದಿದ್ರೆ ಟಿಎಂಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಆ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇಲೆ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯ ಮಾಡೋದನ್ನ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸ್ತಾ ಇದ್ರು. ನೊಂದ ಕೆಲವು ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಜೊತೆ ನಾನು ಖುದ್ದಾಗಿ ಮಾತಾಡಿದ್ದೀನಿ. ಕಾನೂನಿನ ನೆರವಿಗಾಗಿ ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ಸಿಕ್ಕಸಿಕ್ಕವರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾಯ ಕೇಳ್ತಾ ಇದ್ರು. ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಜಿಗಳನ್ನ ಹಾಕಿದ್ರೂ ಅವು ವಿಚಾರಣೆಗೆ ಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಆಗ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆ ಹೊತ್ತಲ್ಲಿ ನೂಪುರ್ ಶರ್ಮಾ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಹಾಕ್ತಾ ನನಗೆ ಫೋನ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರು. ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್‌ರೇಪ್‌ನಿಂದ ಬಚಾವಾಗೋಕೆ ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಜನ ಹಿಂದೂ ಹುಡುಗಿಯರು ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಿತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಯಾರನ್ನ ನಂಬಬೇಕು ಅಥವಾ ಸಹಾಯ ಹೇಗೆ ಪಡೆಯಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ ಹೇಳ್ತಾ ಇದ್ರು. ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದ ಒಂದು ಘಟನೆ ಕರುಳು ಹಿಂಡುವಂತಿತ್ತು. ಹೆತ್ತವರ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಾಮೂಹಿಕ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅಷ್ಟು ನೋವಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಆಕೆ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿ 'ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಆಯೋಗ'ಕ್ಕೆ ತನಗಾದ ಅನ್ಯಾಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕಂಪ್ಲೇಂಟ್ ಬರೆದಿದ್ಲು. ವಿಷಯ ಗೊತ್ತಾದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಲೋಕಲ್ ಟಿಎಂಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಆಕೆಯಿಂದ ಕಂಪ್ಲೇಂಟ್ ವಾಪಸ್ ಕೊಡಿಸೋಕೆ ಅಂತ ಮತ್ತೆ ಆಕೆಯ ಫ್ಯಾಮಿಲಿ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ರು. ಆದ್ರೂ ಆಕೆ ಬಗ್ಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಘಟನೆಯಲ್ಲ, ಇಂಥವು ಎಷ್ಟೋ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದವು. ನೂಪುರ್ ಅವರು ಇವರಿಗೆ ಏನಾದ್ರೂ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಆಗುತ್ತಾ ಅಂತ ಕೇಳಿದ್ರು. ನಾನು ಕೂಡ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಈ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿಸಿ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನ ಕಾಂಟ್ಯಾಕ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದಿನ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತರ ಪರ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡೋ ಕೋಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದ ಎನ್‌ಜಿಒ ಒಂದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಮಾಡಿ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಸ್ ನಡೆಸಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಕೇಳಿದ್ರು. ಸಿದ್ಧಾರ್ಥ್ ನಾಯಕ್ ಅವರ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಲ್ಕತ್ತಾ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಜಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲೇ ಸಿಪಿಐ(ಎಂ) ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ಎಲೆಕ್ಷನ್ ನಂತರದ ಹಿಂಸಾಚಾರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅರ್ಜಿಗಳು ಸಲ್ಲಿಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ವು. ವಿಷಯದ ಗಂಭೀರತೆ ನೋಡಿ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಚೀಫ್ ಜಸ್ಟಿಸ್ ಅವರು ಐವರು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧೀಶರ ಪೀಠವನ್ನ ರಚಿಸಿದ್ರು. ಸುಮಾರು 80,000 ಜನ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳೋಕೆ ಅಸ್ಸಾಂಗೆ ಓಡಿ ಹೋಗಿದ್ರು. ಗೌಹಾಟಿ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಕೂಡ ಈ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನ ಗಮನಿಸಿತ್ತು.ಸೀನಿಯರ್ ಅಡ್ವೋಕೇಟ್ ಮಹೇಶ್ ಜೇಠ್ಮಲಾನಿ ಅವರು ಕೆಲವು ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತರ ಪರ ವಾದ ಮಂಡಿಸಿದ್ರೆ, ನಾನು ಉಳಿದವರ ಪರವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದೆ. ಮಹಿಳೆಯರ ಮೇಲಾದ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯಗಳನ್ನ ಎಸ್‌ಐಟಿ (SIT) ತನಿಖೆಯ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೋ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡೋದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿರಾಕರಿಸ್ತಾ ಇತ್ತು, ಆದ್ರೆ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಈ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನ ತನ್ನ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿತು. ಈ ಹೋರಾಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಿಯಾಂಕಾ ಟಿಬ್ರೆವಾಲ್ ಅವರು ಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನ ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿಯುವಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ರು. ಸಿಪಿಐ(ಎಂ) ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರ ಮೇಲೂ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವರು ಕೂಡ ನಮ್ಮ ವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡಿದ್ರು. ಇನ್ನು ಕೋಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದ ಯುವ ವಕೀಲರಾದ ರಿಷಬ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಿಯಾಂಕಾ ಅಗರ್ವಾಲ್ ಅವರ ಧೈರ್ಯವನ್ನ ಮೆಚ್ಚಲೇಬೇಕು. ಎಷ್ಟೇ ರಿಸ್ಕ್ ಇದ್ರೂ ಅವರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ನನಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರು. ಸಿದ್ಧಾರ್ಥ್ ನಾಯಕ್, ಮಹೇಶ್ ಜೇಠ್ಮಲಾನಿ ಮತ್ತು ರವಿ ಶರ್ಮಾ ಅವರ ಸಹಕಾರದಿಂದ ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ನೂಪುರ್ ಶರ್ಮಾಗೆ ಬೆಂಬಲವಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು. ಅದಕ್ಕೇ ಹೇಳೋದು, ಬಂಗಾಳದ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಗೆಲುವನ್ನ ಸೆಲೆಬ್ರೇಟ್ ಮಾಡೋವಾಗ, ಈ ಗೆಲುವಿಗಾಗಿ ರಕ್ತ ಸುರಿಸಿದ, ಆ ನೋವು, ಭಯ ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದವರನ್ನ ಮರೆಯಬೇಡಿ. ಇಂಥ ಘಟನೆ ಭಾರತದ ಯಾವ ಮೂಲೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮರುಕಳಿಸಬಾರದು.ಕಲ್ಕತ್ತಾ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್ ತೀರ್ಪನ್ನ ನಂತರ ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಲೆಂಜ್ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ, ಈಗಲೂ ಆ ವಿಷಯ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಪೆಂಡಿಂಗ್ ಇದೆ.
