Shout out to @LancashireFRS who put out a fire at my daughter’s house in Preston last night. She’s gutted to have lost everything and waiting on insurance. Daughter and bf weren’t home. Neighbour smelled smoke and called 999. FRS grateful the gas supply didn’t ignite! 1/2

@bphillipsonMP Could you share your impact assessment in regard to this decision as I, and many others, have grave concerns. Not just financial but also for the mental health of all children as classes increase in size in the state sector and there is no immediate plan it would seem to support.

@NatHurd @hmtreasury @bphillipsonMP And if this tax was in place now and I said "Who does scrapping this tax benefit?" then the answer would overwhelmingly be upper middle-class parents with a significantly larger income than most.

Every child should have access to a high-quality education. From 1 Jan 2025, VAT will apply to all education, training and boarding services provided by private schools. This money will help us to invest more in state education, improving standards and opportunities for all.

@g1Elmo3000 @hmtreasury @bphillipsonMP I am asking to see the impact assessment as I think the tax will have a huge impact on State Schools, larger class sizes as children move across, an increase in SEN pupils without an EHCP in mainstream who do not have the correct support. Who does this tax benefit?

@NatHurd @hmtreasury @bphillipsonMP If you could just barely afford private school before and now you can't, you're STILL in the top 5% in Britain. If we have to raise taxes on someone, it should be the top 5%.

Beaming with pride! Those close to Lowri are aware of her ADHD diagnosis and the struggles it brings but how she has been so open and honest I hope promotes understanding and inspires people to pick up a bat and try out something that you thought perhaps wasn’t possible 🏓
