Following yesterday’s strike ballot result, we met with @wesstreeting
It’s clear: the Government is refusing to negotiate on pay.
We are now preparing for a full 5 day walk-out, beginning on Friday 25 July.
Our door will always be open to constructive talks.

- 𝑫𝒓. 𝑴𝒐𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒂 𝑫𝒆𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒉: 𝑨 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝑪𝒖𝒕 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒃𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝑽𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆.
On the night of August 8th, a 31-year-old female doctor diligently completed her duty, as she had done countless times before. After finishing her shift, she shared a quiet meal with her juniors at 2 AM. Exhausted from the long hours, she sought a moment of rest. With no designated room provided for doctors, she settled down to sleep in the seminar room, a makeshift refuge for those who work tirelessly through the night. Little did she know, this would be the last time she closed her eyes with a sense of routine comfort.

We've not asked for pay restoration in one go and it's misleading to say the cost of pay restoration would be £3bn – that assumes Junior Doctors pay no tax. In reality the cost to Government would be £1.3bn, less than half of the cost to the NHS of the strikes to date.

My response to letter from @TheBMA Junior Doctors Committee 👇 These planned strikes are cynical and will harm patients. The BMA must call them off.

BMA junior doctor members in England have voted by over 97% in favour of extending our mandate for industrial action, and to provide us with a mandate for action short of strike (ASOS).
A huge thank you to all of those who voted.
