@NatalistAnti

Critical of evolution's tendency to make us feel good about causing our children's pain, suffering and death via procreation. How about you? #antinatalism

Most people like being alive, therefore procreation is morally justified. Most drug users like the effect of the drug they use, therefore forcing people to take drugs is morally justified. Hold still. #antinatalism

@Sallubju 1/2 That's the second time you've "missed the point". Either you genuinely don't understand the point being made or you're hiding behind an alleged misunderstanding to avoid addressing the point. And you ignored my question about whether you read my Substack. Not interested in...

The non-existent don't matter until you propose to harm them by creating them. Prior to their existence, appeals to their positive feelings are appeals to yours in disguise. Find another hobby. #antinatalism

@Sallubju 1/2 Using the same logic, the people I force to take heroin will feel the impulse to take heroin so giving them heroin is not an imposition. I'm simply the guardian of non-heroin-users' desire to take heroin until I force them to take it. If your logic makes procreation moral,

@Sallubju Do you draw a line on that perspective, and if so, where? Presumably you'd consider it morally wrong for someone to make your pain part of their life, as opposed to justified?

@NatalistAnti Pain is justified because it's a necessary part of life.

@Sallubju I think you missed the point. My point was that if liking the effects of a condition morally justifies imposing that condition on others, then along with procreation being morally justified, by the same standard so is forcing people to take drugs.

@NatalistAnti The difference is that you can live without using drugs. You can't live without being procreated, so it's good and necessary to procreate.

@indusblood It sounds like a battle between intellect and instinct. The classic double i. Intellect tells you it's morally wrong to harm someone with/without consent. Instinct tells you "fuck it".

I don't know why, but whenever I read or hear about antinatalism, the ideology feels disturbingly convincing, and it makes me feel like i shouldn't dive any deeper into it.
