I'm moving to blue sky folks. You should, too. A ton of people have moved recently. Use Sky Follower Bridge to refollow people on bsky that you follow on here. Put your bsky account name in your details here and the tool will let others refollow you over there.

@USA_Polling Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, I guess I'm a Republican now? The guy literally stacked the courts to overturn Roe v Wade. Why would he stop now when all his advisors tell him that it's what everyone wants? He already thinks Democrats wanted RvW overturned.

@mattcolville We had a mouse once with a vertical wheel.... She'd run run run on the wheel to get up to speed then grab on and go loop-de-looping around..... We counted 14 full revolutions one time. Weird animals.

@ghirapurigears I feel so bad for the RC and the CAG. I think most rational people understand that you are trying to do what's best for the format that you clearly love. I am surprised at the level of vitriol we've seen. None of you deserve this, and I hope it does no lasting harm.

I expected anger. Even bans we see coming generate anger. I expected hate. I expected impulsive emotional explosions. What caught me off guard this time was the feedback loop intensifying everything and causing the cycle to keep renewing itself.

@bmkibler This is horrible and yet so expected. Olivia is a treasure and it's so sad that angry a-holes on the internet can cause what I know to be real harm. I hope this blows over with as little long-term impact on her and the rest of the RC as possible.

Since yesterday's announcement, I have seen everything from name calling to death threats directed at the RC, and as the most visible person in the group, specifically at Olivia. It should be obvious that this isn't close to okay.

As someone who is seeing the *personal* impact of the reaction to yesterday's announcement first hand, I want to say this. The Commander Rules Committee has an impossible and thankless job. Managing a format that is completely different things to different people is Sisyphean.

@jfwong The biggest complaint for YEARS about the RC is that they never did anything. Now they ban the most problematic cards in the format and some people are mad. You're only hearing from the 1% most enfranchised players. 95% of people have none of these cards and think it's fine.

@ShardenTV @monxstah @Glenn_Jones_ That's literally not true. A couple people at my LGS routinely throw around crypts and dockside and I had back to back weeks with Nadu decks eating up 2/3rds of a 4 player game. Nadu is easier because it's there as the commander. The other ones just surprise you midgame.

@monxstah @Glenn_Jones_ Because people have been trained to accept their talking heads points at face value. If RC says it helps casuals, then it does. But it doesn't. Casual tables didn't have a significant problem with ANY card banned, including the cheap bird.

@KankatoRYM But we’re they asking for precisely this before it happened? My point isn’t that people don’t like it, it’s that this isn’t a “by popular demand”

It occurs to me that today’s commander ban is structurally different from other bans. Bans a generally a development/balance level change. A card was unbalanced so it’s removed. These cards weren’t removed because they were strong or made someone win, it’s because they…

@RhysticStudies @bmkibler You can't sit down at an LGS and tell other people what cards they shouldn't be allowed to play. People will grumble and just make you feel bad for asking. I can't even get my home playgroup to ban sol ring, how am I going to convince strangers not to play dockside?

I feel like banning Crypt and Jeweled Lotus is a huge miss. Some people like playing high powered Commander and these cards are part of that. They are a rule zero issue, not a ban list issue, and to ban them and leave Sol Ring legal is just nonsensical.
Commander Rules Committee@mtgcommander

UPDATE: Changes to the banned list: Dockside Extortionist is banned Jeweled Lotus is banned Mana Crypt is banned Nadu is banned. Additional details: mtgcommander.net/?p=1729. or magic.wizards.com/en/news/announ…

@SaffronOlive This was my thought. It's way easier to ask for permission to *allow* illegal cards in your own deck ("can I use this Planeswalker as my commander?" "Anyone mind if I have a couple silver bordered cards?") than to ask someone *else* not to play a card.

It's funny to see so many people say "rule zero." Even discounting that I think Commander has outgrown rule zero (it's great for playgroups, but imo bad for games with strangers which are becoming more and more common), can't you just rule zero in the banned cards?

@SaffronOlive I think calling it a rug pull makes it sound like it's the RC's fault. WotC prints the cards, the RC just has to deal with what gets printed. I choose to focus more on the first part - It's WotC's fault. Dockside was recent. They even cashed in on Mana Crypt in Lost Caverns.

I also hope that Wizards gets the message that they shouldn't be printing cards like Jeweled Lotus and Dockside in the first place. It does feel a bit like a rug pull that Wizards cashes in on these cards and players are left holding the bag when they are banned.

Alright, Commander Clash and podcast recorded, so I can actually get into the Commander bannings. I like the RC doing things and taking action. I also very much agree on fast mana. We've had it house banned forever and I games play much better without it.

@bmkibler I respect you, Brian, but I disagree. In my friend group, sure. At an LGS, it's way different. I play weekly at an LGS and I wouldn't feel comfortable asking those people not to play legal cards. Mostly rule 0 is "are proxies ok?" or "Can I play this planeswalker as a commander?"

I understand why Harris isn't doing this but it's important to repeat: - Immigrants commit crime at lower rates than native born Americans - Immigrants do not reduce native-born wages - Immigrants help the economy grow - America is great as assimilating immigrants
