@ThePieGod7 @Bafael1 A good example is Street Fighter 2 Akuma & Street Fighter 2 Old Sagat. Akuma invalidates the entire cast whereas O. Sagat invalided half the cast. Both are bannable, but people will stand up for O Sagat because he’s more beatable.

@ThePieGod7 @Bafael1 100% There’s a paradox with FGC bans where characters that slowly grow into ban able status are harder to get rid of than blatantly broken shit. Once people put serious time into a character they will refuse to ban them.

@Talift52 @SsendamCelle @Bafael1 Morrigan is a foil to UMvC3’s usual play imo. Instead of hitting you & mixing your entire team, she smothers you in fireballs. You get to make more meaningful decisions against her than other top tiers, but it sure as hell doesn’t feel like it.

@ThePieGod7 @Bafael1 I understand that banning a fighting game character is a complicated & divisive process. After leaving fighting games for trading card games, a community where powerful things are regularly removed, I can say with certainty that banning Steve is a good thing.

@Bafael1 He’s a divine mix of: -Very skill intensive -Very unique -Potential to be very flashy -Slow -Uninteractive -Immensely strong I can’t think of another character that has all these traits.

@claudiohmtg I have an active Pioneer local I’ve been going to for three years. The format is so much fun when WotC bothers to maintain it (and that’s a big when). Feels like organized play just doesn’t know what to do with anything anymore.

This was a really good video. Another grave consequence of giant standard and the crazy disregard wizards has for the format.
