Jesus said: Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. (Matthew 23:12) . Isn’t that opposite the world’s reward system? But we try to justify it by accepting awards and saying, “I’m so humbled to receive this.”

“Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone’s opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances.” (Matthew 22:16) . - says the unfaithful men, setting a trap for Jesus because they are so swayed by appearances and opinions. God, save us from the same hypocrisy within us!

The blind and the lame came to Jesus in the temple, and he healed them. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant (Matthew 21:14-15). . The physically blind came and saw. The spiritually blind stayed indignant.

We are saved! You are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them. (Nehemiah 9:17) He is risen!
