Well, 1 + 1 is straight up addition, added together you get 2. 1*1 is multiplication, which is addition by factors. Anything multiplied by 1 is itself. This 1*1 is 1, yet 1 multiplied by a factor of 2 is 2. A factor in this case is next level of number, 1, 2, 3, etc. So 1*50 is 50. Does that make sense?

If 1+1=2 then why is 1x1 = 1? Law logic
