About six months ago, my neighbor asked for my WiFi password. Since we got along well, I didn’t think twice—I shared it.
Yesterday, I ran into him at the door, and we got talking as usual. He mentioned, quite excitedly, that they’d subscribed to Netflix. Jokingly, I said, “I’ve been so busy I barely watch TV, but maybe you can share your password so I can catch a few shows.”
Before he could respond, his wife—sitting nearby—cut in firmly, “That’s not possible. I’m the one paying for it, and it’s not something to be shared.”
Everything went quiet. He looked embarrassed and apologized, but I brushed it off and changed the subject before heading inside.
A little while later, she called him in a panic, saying the TV wasn’t working. Moments later, both of them came to my door, complaining that the internet password wasn’t working anymore.
I looked at them and calmly said, “I changed it. I’m the one paying for it, and I don’t think it should be shared.”
She tried to protest, but I stopped her and said, “Let’s keep it simple—you enjoy your Netflix, I’ll keep my internet, and no one has to feel uncomfortable.”
They walked away clearly upset, slammed their door, and haven’t spoken to me since.
Sometimes, it’s a reminder: relationships—whether friendship, love, or simple neighborly kindness—should be built on mutual respect and reciprocity.

My friend’s husband insists on doing all the market shopping himself. Weekends, and even some weekdays after work, the whole family has to wait for him to close from work and go to the market before they can cook dinner.
His wife is a housewife and has complained many times. The only way she gets personal money is from leftover change after market runs. She uses it for basic things like body cream and sanitary pads because she’s tired of having to ask him for everything.
I think he started going himself because he suspected she was inflating prices.
But in my opinion, that’s stingy behavior. If you’re that worried about your wife keeping small change, it says a lot.
