@SamaHoole "If you plot all twenty-two countries, the relationship disappears." That's not true and demonstrates no familiarity with the subject at all. The 22 countries were published and you could pick any 6 of them and not be cherry-picking, because the relationship is perfectly linear.

In 1953, Ancel Keys published a paper showing a relationship between dietary fat consumption and heart disease mortality across six countries. The relationship was striking. The graph was compelling. The problem: Keys had data from twenty-two countries. He selected six. The six that supported his hypothesis. If you plot all twenty-two countries, the relationship disappears. This was pointed out at the time, by Yerushalmy and Hilleboe in 1957, in the American Journal of Public Health. Keys was aggressive in dismissing the criticism. He was influential enough to make it stick. He later chaired the committee that wrote the American Heart Association dietary guidelines. The guidelines blamed fat. The guidelines became government policy. The government policy became the food pyramid. The food pyramid became what your grandmother was told to eat. It began with a man who had twenty-two data points and published six. Everything downstream: the statins, the low-fat products, the LDL obsession, the dietary guidelines your doctor is still referencing, traces back to that selection. Cherry-picking doesn't usually have this kind of legacy. This one did.

@SBakerMD I've seen a similar video where a baby is given ice cream for the first time. No comparison -- the ice cream wins hands down.

@jrouldz Nice! Although the Central Park is still a few blocks away? I'd rather live right at it if such an option even exists. 🤠

Diversification is for suckers You will never see true underperformance relative to indexes unless you consolidate into just a few positions 😆

@drjasonfung The idea is not new. A Nobel laureate Linus Pauling advocated it back in 1970s. The medical establishment killed it, of course.

Some f#cking guy tipped me ten dollars in quarters, and I’m still trying to understand what kind of person thinks that’s acceptable. I just finished a DoorDash order and he tells me he forgot to tip in the app, which is whatever, not ideal but fine. Then he pulls out a literal roll of quarters like he’s doing me some huge favor. He looked at me and said, “Sorry man, I didn’t tip on the app, this is all I’ve got.” I stood there holding a handful of coins like it was 1998. I don’t use change. I’m not a parking meter. I’m not carrying around rolls of quarters or dumping them into a Coinstar just to access money I already earned. I took it because I’m not going to stand there arguing, but that doesn’t make it okay. Tipping in quarters is ridiculous. Tip in the app, tip in bills, tip digitally, tip in literally anything that doesn’t require me to lug around loose metal. Acting like this is normal is insane, and yeah, fuck that guy for thinking a pocketful of coins is an acceptable tip.

@Dearme2_ Not always the case. You might bury the man who walked out on his family to marry someone who was 4 years older than I was and raise her kids like they were his own while ignoring his own three kids for over 30 years. Reality can be a bitch.

Random Rockefeller Center history: In order to build the 17 million sqft complex, Rockefeller acquired and razed more than 200 buildings, relocating more than 4000 tenants But the owner of this 3 story building wouldn’t budge on a sale, so JD built the complex around him 😂

Cardio is better for fat loss if you do enough of it. If you do 20 minutes of cardio 3 times a week and an hour of strength training 3 times a week, sure the strength training will help fat loss more. Not necessarily weight loss. But if you average 60+ minutes of cardio a day at fairly intense levels and burn more than 600 calories, that will do more for fat loss, especially if you do some strength training to preserve muscle mass. I've been doing both. On intense cardio days I'm burning as much as 1000 calories (I do some strength in between bike and treadmill sessions). Definitely helps fat loss more than when I do 90 minute strength session and finish with 30 minutes of cardio. It's clear to me that heavy cardio loses more fat than heavy strength.

@TJTheWheelDeal I believe theta decay doesn’t happen on weekends….. the option prices decay on days when market is open. Isn’t that the case?

You know who loves when the market is closed? Options Sellers :) It’s the easiest $ for us bc it’s 3 days of chilling and theta keeps ticking. Eventually it will reflect on the pricing of the options.

@TheSalonDon @amelikendrick Indeed. If all you have is a carrot, this may be true. But if you can wield a stick... this changes calculus significantly.
