Welcome home to the crews of USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), USS Bainbridge (DDG 96), and USS Mahan (DDG 72). After 326 days at sea, the Ford Carrier Strike Group is back at Naval Station Norfolk. It’s the longest carrier deployment since the Vietnam War, breaking the post-Vietnam record previously held by USS Abraham Lincoln. Across nearly eleven months, the strike group operated across U.S. 4th, 5th, and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility, including the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Red Sea, supporting Operations Southern Spear, Absolute Resolve, and Epic Fury. Nearly 4,500 sailors aboard the Ford, alongside the crews of Bainbridge and Mahan, the squadrons of Carrier Air Wing 8, and Destroyer Squadron 2, carried the load.
