Ships. Jobs. Maritime Dominance. Today before the House Armed Services Committee, I detailed how the Department of the Navy provides our nation with the strategic and tactical edge, ensuring our warfighters have the decisive advantage required to deter and defeat any threat.

A carrier is more than a ship; it's a supply chain in motion. It takes relentless teamwork to stay fueled, fed, and in the fight. Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) receives stores from Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment oiler USNS Patuxent (T-AO 201) during a replenishment-at-sea in the Atlantic Ocean. Nimitz is deployed as part of Southern Seas 2026 which seeks to enhance capability, improve interoperability, and strengthen maritime partnerships with countries throughout the region through joint, multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation. 📸 MCSN Frankie M. Taking a dive. 🤿 U.S. Navy Seabee divers, assigned to Underwater Construction Team (UCT) 1, Construction Dive Detachment Charlie (CDD/C), conduct infrastructure repairs and assessments at the Port Brizine fuel terminal in Split, Croatia. UCT 1, CDD/C, currently deployed under 22nd Naval Construction Regiment, is a specially trained and equipped unit within Navy Expeditionary Combat Forces, that specializes in diving, light salvage, underwater construction, and military engineering operations in austere environments.

Welcome home, VAQ-142!! 🇺🇸 🥳🙌 Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 142, “Gray Wolves,” returned to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, May 11, 2026, following a historic eleven-month deployment to U.S. 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th Fleets as part of the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group.

Happy birthday, Navy Nurse Corps! On May 13, 1908, President Theodore Roosevelt signed the Naval Appropriations Bill that authorized the establishment of the Navy Nurse Corps. In November of that year, the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery selected its first 20 nurses, which were dubbed “the Sacred Twenty.”

Proud to stand with our South Korean allies. Yesterday, I hosted Republic of Korea Minister of National Defense Ahn Gyu-back and Ambassador Kang Kyung-wha to discuss our shared strategic priorities and the future of our maritime partnership. Interoperability. Collaboration. Cooperation. All are necessary to deter aggression and maintain a free and open maritime domain.

Amateurs talk tactics, professionals invest in logistics. Today, we funded another critical fleet replenishment oiler to be built at General Dynamics-National Steel and Shipbuilding Corporation in San Diego. The Department of the Navy continues to deliver a modern Combat Logistics Force, reinforcing the global reach and sustained lethality of our Sailors and Marines at sea.

Forged by the Sea. Bound for Home.   The USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) Carrier Strike Group is officially headed home after answering the nation's call. Homecomings commence today as squadrons from Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8 return to their respective bases. The flagship and the ships of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 2 will arrive in the coming days to officially conclude their deployment. Thank you to our Sailors for your unwavering service, and to the families who supported them. Welcome home, shipmates!
