argued with rins last night after i posted that tweet about my other ex she read it didn't say anything at first then we queued died to a level 3 gank she says "guess you save the tryhard for her" "what's that supposed to mean" "nothing, just interesting how you played that game" suddenly we're not talking about league anymore we're talking about a tweet a game from yesterday a person from 2 years ago something that shouldn't matter but clearly does "you writing essays about her now?" i write essays about everything "not like that you don't" she's got a point but i'm not admitting it mid-game we lose she logs off i log off both of us too stubborn to be the first to reach out spent 3 hours not talking both queuing ranked separately both losing checked her opgg between games she's on a 4 game loss streak i'm on a 5 game loss streak we're both running it down out of spite and pride finally called her not text. actual call. "i'm mad you played different with her in the game than you do with me" "that was 2 years ago" "didn't seem like 2 years ago when you were writing it" fuck she's right i was in my head about it reliving it while writing probably came through in the words "you want me to delete it?" "yeah" loaded into lobby together neither of us mentions the argument again just lock in our champs and play but this time i'm locked in different not trying to prove something to someone from the past trying to show up for someone in the present first game back together we gap lane 6/0 perfect synergy she knows when to shield i know when to all-in but it feels different than before more intentional less autopilot between fights she says: "there you are" yeah here i am we win that game queue again and again and again 5 game win streak since that conversation not because we got better at league because we had an actual conversation instead of just letting it fester here's what that taught me about any relationship: arguments aren't the problem letting them sit is the problem she could've stayed mad i could've stayed defensive we both could've kept queuing separately and losing instead we just talked not through text where tone gets lost not through passive aggressive comments actual conversation "this is what bothered me" "okay here's why" "here's what i need" "okay" that's it no dramatics no keeping score just communication and moving forward most people let shit build up small resentments turn into big fights because nobody wants to be the first to say "this bothered me" we're 5-0 because we stopped letting yesterday's problems ruin today's games if you're duoing with someone and every session ends in tension stop texting stop avoiding it just call them and talk real relationships get over humps by actually addressing them not by pretending they don't exist not by queuing separately until someone gives in by actually communicating what the problem is we're not perfect we'll probably argue again but at least we know how to get through it now Study the Saskio & Rins way
