A year ago as a student at @ucnj_owls, Precious Opaola says she couldn’t have imagined attending Princeton. She credits her experience with Princeton's Transfer Scholars Initiative and @kaplanedfdn’s Leadership Program for first-gen, lower-income community college students with boosting her confidence. Transfer Student Orientation helped her quickly bond with incoming students and the peer mentorship program “really helped show me that I belong,” she adds. Now that her first semester is complete, Precious Opaola '28 intends to major in anthropology and is already thinking about applying to graduate school. “My one big thing is always paying it forward,” she says. “I really want to work with transfers in higher education and provide the same support that really helped me discover the light within myself.” Learn more about the transfer student community at Princeton: bit.ly/425E1OS
