Not so long ago, Felix Hlophe was almost expelled from Gagasi FM after women took to social media, accusing him of abusing his wife. Yet today, a woman has allegedly been stabbed more than 46 times by a man from the DRC, and South African women on social media appear to be largely silent on the matter. Are they only vocal when the alleged perpetrator is South African, or what?” asks an angry man.
I find it amusing how people seem to think that Chidimma must be deported as a form of punishment for her “crimes”. Here are facts to consider about Chidimma’s case: 1. She has not committed a single crime; 2. She is a Nigerian by descent(born of a Nigerian father); 3. The notion that Chidimma “acquired” or “accepted” Nigerian citizenship is not a correct interpretation without due & proper consideration of foreign law (in this instance Nigerian laws with regards to the acquisition of citizenship) and the interpretation of the word “acquired” in relation thereto. 4. Chidimma being a Nigerian citizen doesn’t mean that she can’t lay claim to South African citizenship (Dual Citizenship); 5. The DHA has a duty to explain on what basis it declared Chidimma a prohibited person considering that the alleged crimes of her mother can’t be imputed to her; 6. The RC should not grant any order to DHA on 19 Aug 2026 pending the finalisation of the HC review application especially because it has a direct impact on determining whether Chidimma is an illegal foreigner for purposes of the Immigration Act.
