"This year’s $9.9 billion balanced budget and our strong financial position aren’t by chance. They are the product of smart policies year after year. We avoid using one-time revenues for recurring expenses, don’t borrow more than we need, and don’t spend more than we have."

@CTULocal1 It is time for our municipal elections to be held in November in even years. This will increase participation and the results will reflect the will of the citizenry. @CTULocal1 will certainly support this change.

1/ Today, the Board of Education and the mayor announced a transition in which the current Board will step down. We thank this Board for centering equity, initiating the Black Student Success plan, and moving away from a punitive school rating system.

It’s on! @AJManaseer and I will meet in the near future to count the percentage of vehicle operators on Augusta Boulevard just west of Milwaukee Avenue who are using sustainable transportation devices. Manaseer’s original tweets, and the rules we recently agreed on, are attached.

@Chicago_History I think the building is beautiful. The sign is way too big and detracts from the beauty of the building. So based on that not the most beautiful.

I think the below post accurately summarizes the growing disparity between what the @realDonaldTrump campaign represents and what the @POTUS Biden campaign and today’s Democratic Party are or have become. It begs the question: Does America want to be a nation of victims or a people who aspire and work hard to achieve success, greatness, and leadership in the world. This has become the fundamental question of the upcoming presidential election.
Cynical Publius@CynicalPublius

So Donald Trump held a huge, wildly successful rally in the Bronx today. That itself is in many ways remarkable, but what I find quite noteworthy is not what happened, but what DID NOT happen. Let me explain. The population in the Bronx is predominantly black and Hispanic. Like most of America’s urban centers, the Bronx suffers from disproportionate amounts of crime, poverty, drug use and gangs. With that in mind, let me tell you what did NOT happen at this rally: 1. Trump did not put on an affected, fake accent of an A.M.E. Zion minister or Chi Chi Rodriguez (See: Hillary). He was simply Trump, without airs or any patronizing words or thoughts. 2. He did not tell the people of the Bronx that they were victims. He told them that they were powerful and could solve their community’s problems themselves. 3. He did not demonize any groups of Americans as the evil “Other.” Yes, he criticized the failed policies of Democrats and poked fun at their foibles, but he reminded everyone that we are all Americans first, from coast to coast. 4. He did not promise to solve the problems of the Bronx with handouts or wealth redistribution. He merely promised that he would help set the national economic conditions so the community itself could solve its own problems through jobs, business and education. He promised empowerment, not victimhood. Contrast all of this with what a Democrat would say under the same circumstances. Heck, contrast it with the vile speech of hate and victimhood Biden gave at Morehouse College this past weekend. The difference is stunning. What scares Democrats about this rally is that it shows them that the people whose votes they have taken for granted for many decades are starting to leave the Democrat Plantation of Victimhood in favor of the uplifting, empowering message of Donald Trump and his aspiration to make America a place that is “great again” for ALL Americans. The times, they are a-changin’.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

@BillAckman Deficits are a bipartisan tradition. Every shock in the last 20 years has been met with deficit spending. You also ignore that the private sector has created billionaires at the expense of the broader population. This sounds like Monday morning quarterbacking.

Fun fact: There are ZERO ShotSpotters in La Spata's ward. There are ZERO ShotSpotters in Rodriguez Sanchez's ward. So, of course, they're moving to deny use of the tool to the aldermen who have it and want it.
Jake Sheridan@JakeSheridan_

The ShotSpotter vote was delayed using a parliamentary maneuver by opponents. Ald. Daniel La Spata and Ald. Rossana Rodriguez Sanchez “deferred and published” the order that could allow the controversial technology to remain in Chicago. It could face a vote at another meeting.

@DanielLaSpata Whether you are aligned with the mayor or not. you should be demanding answers on where the money is coming from, who is it going to and has it been authorized. I am seeing. one of that from City Council.

The debate on supporting funding for new arrivals in Chicago is so tragic, but that’s America. All I know is that when the needs of poor Black people are pitted against the needs of poor Latine people, the only winners are the wealthy interests controlling the system.

@DanielLaSpata This is really divisive. The issue isn’t whether these groups should be supported, the issue is how the current administration is not following the law, not being transparent and not efficiently providing services. Your job is to provide oversight not to be a rubber stamp.

@ward32chicago The CTU is afraid of a fully elected board because there will be dissent. Next up gerrymandered school board districts.

@BenBradleyTV The current administration is really lost. The City and County could develop policies to retain and attract large corporate hqs or develop policies to attract and retain small/medium size businesses. This administration does neither. W/o a tax base you can’t give raises to CTU

@ChicagoDOT Stop the Wood St. traffic diverter proposal and put the N/S bike lanes on Wood St. to Wolcott in Wicker Park, south on Wolcott through the East Village, and through to Lake St. to the Medical District. Ald. LaSpata and Ms. Biagi clearly don’t actually ride bikes on these roads.

@ChicagoDOT This new bike lane tuns through Noble Square, East Village and the Ukrainian Village. Ukrainian Village is a neighborhood in the West Town Community Area. CDOT might have a bit more credibility if they got the geography right.
