F1 debate in the house today - I think they’ve ruined it by making it a computer game. Eldest son (a digital native) said it was one of the best races he’s seen! Bring back the V10’s with sustainable fuel please!!!!

Was expecting it to be toxic tonight. It wasn’t, but nothing has changed. One good half, one terrible. Lots of empty seats. Quiet. This isn’t working.

Have reflected. Have to say I am very concerned for our future. I can’t see a way through the P&R election that ends in a good place. Time to consider options!

Going to reflect over a pint! The battle for P&R is going to be fascinating to watch and could be defining for the future of the island. Am not feeling overly hopeful.

@NealeJehan I did initially too but then I thought if all the IOD members vote for 38 and most voters only vote for 10 or 20 (like I did last time) we'll probably have a more business friendly SOG. The main thing to avoid IMHO is those who would destroy the industry we work in.

It is done! Postal vote gone. I could only get to 22. I’m not sure I want to see the outcome next week. I fear it could be 4 hard years of lobbying to get us back on track. Let’s see!

@notquitelocal Disagree with that advice, so went as far as I could. Given I started on 10, 22 was a stretch!

@NealeJehan Same. I got to 38, following Richard Hemans advice to use all votes. Just wanted to ensure a few of the fringe candidates don't get in. I'd rather have boring, rational and predictable deputies rather than volatile ones.

@matt_fallaize @HeidiSoulsby @alasdair_milroy Yes definitely, you’ve added 5 to my total. Up to 15 now, so I’ve been able to use at least 50% more votes than without the podcasts!

Just back on island and read manifesto booklet. Strikes me that GST doesn’t have much hope based on the numbers against it. Could be an interesting term!

@HeidiSoulsby @alasdair_milroy @matt_fallaize One thing that I find amazing is how mis-informed or deliberately vague so many are. It would take 15 minutes with a decent economist and tax adviser to explain it to most people!

@NealeJehan @alasdair_milroy @matt_fallaize has done a good job of teasing out of some who are vague in their manifesto what their position is. Some of those are pro GST+. Others don’t want to believe we have a structural deficit. Some of current lot who didn’t vote for it this term will next term I’m sure.

@alasdair_milroy I don’t think plus stands much chance either. Going to explore the podcasts now to see if I can get to more than 10 votes!!

@NealeJehan More are understanding that its not a binary choice, the PLUS element is key. It would be poor to have an assembly willing smash the credit card for another term
