We went to a dinner as a group and had a $500 bill. We tipped $40. We were happy we can be able to give our server something, but her reaction was the opposite. She told us she assumed we're going to give her at least $120. When we asked for the manager, she said she was just joking, but she wasn't smiling at all. Idk, but is $40 tip enough for $500 bill? I just feel like expecting $120 is not realistic..... 🤔🤔

My boyfriend and I are planning to buy a house together after dating for 3 years.
He earns significantly more than I do, so he’d be contributing about 70% of the down payment. Because of that, he wants the house to be only in his name.
He says it’s just “fair” based on the numbers, but we’d both be living there, splitting bills, and building a life together.
I’ve been watching a lot of relationship content about equity vs equality, and it made me realize things don’t always have to be 50/50 but this feels like I’d have no security at all.
He said if we ever broke up, he’d “do the right thing,” but that doesn’t really reassure me.
My friends say don’t move in unless my name is on it. His friends apparently think I’m being entitled.
Now I feel stuck between trusting him and protecting myself.
Is this a red flag I’m trying too hard to rationalize?

They could have waited a half hour more and done their news conference at 4:00 when the local news regularly broadcasts. Thank goodness for Hulu. Had to wait till 8:00 but got to watch the rest of GH

@Carlhose @MrPitbull07 Their min wage is low because they get tips. They have to tip out the bus boys and kitchen staff out of what they are tipped. I suggest you don’t frequent a certain restaurant and pull this crap. Because they do remember the jerks that pull this crap. Service for you will suck.

I paid a $169.29 breakfast bill and left the tip at $0. Not because I didn’t notice the line — but because tipping, for me, is still a personal choice, not a fixed charge.
The meal itself was fully paid for. The prices were set, the tax was added, and the total was clear. Covering that bill already supports the restaurant, its staff, and its operations. That part of the transaction was complete.
What made this moment uncomfortable wasn’t the math — it was the pressure that followed. Tipping used to be a way to say “thank you” when service stood out. Somewhere along the way, it shifted into an expectation that can feel detached from the actual experience.
Everyone comes in with different circumstances, different standards, and different limits. Respecting that choice — whatever the number — is part of keeping trust between customers and businesses. When that respect slips, so does the desire to come back.

@meowtasticgirl @NoContextHumans Servers make less than minimum wage. In upstate NY they make $13.20 an hour. They use the tips to even out to their salary. Those tips they have to file taxes on. Also in some restaurants they pull the tips & must give part of their tips to the busboys & kitchen staff. So yes tip
